Re: search.php default search results as topics?

You'd think that just changing "posts" to "topics" would work as per 3.1.x, but it doesn't.

search.php default search results as topics?

Please can someone advise how to change the forum top-right search box to display results as topics by default? The code changed advised in search.php which worked for 3.1.9 no longer work in 3.2.0, instead I get garbled results. Much searching has led to old 3.1.x advice. E.g. lots like this: https...

Re: Admin Notifications suddenly using IP address

Hi, thanks.

The Force server URL settings is set to no, maybe I should try setting it to yes.

Admin Notifications suddenly using IP address

This is a strange one. I'm hosting a phpBB site for friends. They have it set to approve all new memberships and this has been running fine for a couple of years. Recently the notification emails to the admins requesting approval have started sending the links with IP addresses instead of the domain...

Thanks for the reply Adam. Could I ask though, are you just base-lining or are you certain this will fix the problem?

I have a scheduled update for end of June and changing that planned date will need to be justified to the owners / users.

Re: Can't demote admin to ordinary user

That's really useful :) Thanks!

However, in my haste I just went and set all the strange permissions to No in user settings. I hope that will suffice.

Re: Drop off in usage of our phpBB forums. Facebook / twitter?

Interesting. :)

Another aspect I forgot to add earlier is that for new forums trying to build a community, the potential membership are perhaps put off forums by association.

Drop off in usage of our phpBB forums. Facebook / twitter?

I don't know if this is related or it's just a subjective opinion, but on a few forums I frequent, and a couple of others I admin, I've noticed a real drop-off in forum use. Some of the same people I used to enjoy discussion with on forums now spend almost all of their on-line communication time on ...

Re: Pop-up alert missing for New Personal Message (PM)

Thanks Darcie for your checks. Ok, PM received with no option from phpbb to block future pop ups. Perhaps it is style related. Have you tried switching back to prosilver on your board and seeing if you get the same behavior? Good point! - Well, the behaviour works properly when I switch to pro-silve...

Re: Pop-up alert missing for New Personal Message (PM)

Based on your description The reason I can't type in the actual text as worded on the phpBB alert is because after clicking don't show, they don't show. So I can't get back there to copy the precise wording. I would guess that this was set in your browser. Can you go into the preferences for your b...
