Re: Is It Possible For A Hostile Community To Be Successful?

I won't post any links, but there's plenty of sites out there that are completely overrun with trolls. What you consider "successful" however, is opinion. If users consistently come back and keep adding new content is all that matters then yes, sites like that are successful. If you value more than ...

Re: Apple laptops vs. PC laptops?

And has something like Wine been developed for Mac? ;) eh? Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X From a hardware standpoint, it's my opinion that all Apple products tend to be generally overpriced. For someone who doesn't know that much about computers and just wants a decent...

Re: Dreamweaver?

Kinda defeats the point of a WYSIWYG editor then. Back when I was first starting to learn I stuck to the code view as well because it was always breaking things, but the help that automatically appeared as I typed was very useful. I haven't used DW in years so they've probably made many improvement...

One thing that caught my eye:

Re: Windows 7 is behind you! Yawnn...

I don't see why anyone would need to downgrade. A company switching all their computers to a new OS seems a bit silly to me, they should use a test environment before upgrading their business-essential computers to make sure it works well before making widespread changes.

Re: what software to batch rename a large number of pictures ..

I've used Rename*Us in the past. My needs were extremely simple though (mass changing a file extension from upper-case letters to lower-case) so I don't know if it has more advanced features. I haven't used it in a few years though, so it may have progressed since then ;)

Re: How Can You Tell If Your IM Buddy Is Really a Machine?

If the AI was pretending to be someone I previously had on my list I'd be able to tell for sure. If it was some random new contact I've never spoken to before I'm not sure, I would have to take the test myself to know. Although, I'd like to believe I would know the difference :P

Re: how you pick youre moderators

I very rarely, if ever, give moderator privileges to those who request it. Basically I just go about my business and if I see someone who is continuously helping out with a good attitude and is at least semi-active, I'll offer it to them. I treat moderator privileges as a "bonus" to contributing mem...

Re: my best computer games ever !!

Most of my favorite games are from the Super Nintendo days :D Earthbound, Final Fantasy III, LoZ: A Link To The Past... And no one will ever come up with crazy original games like Super Mario again, those are one of a kind :P Unfortunately, most games I liked have gone 3d, with more emphasis on flas...

Re: the black style debate

I like dark themes and have seen some done quite nicely (like subBlack), but most tend to use shades of gray (unappealing to me) instead of more vivid colors. It's rare for me to find a black-themed style that looks good, but they do exist.

wow, I think that's the fastest response I've ever gotten from a MOD author haha :o

MODs like this make me want to create new forums even though I don't need one just to try it out :P
Very interesting indeed.

Re: [DEV] Multi-Forum 0.2.1

If I understand correctly, this MOD uses one set of phpBB files for multiple forums, without sharing any user details between each forum such as username/passwords. So essentially, if you have x amount of completely separate forums and want to have the exact same file modifications for all them you ...
