Also, if you're calling Ubuntu's filesystem crappy, then you're saying all other Linux filesystems are crappy.

EXT3 for me. No defragging, faster in some situations, and journaling. :D

I'm assuming you've never played through the options to format as ResierFS, XFS, EXT2/3, etc.

At first I installed mine to be like "zomg I can install a forum!111" Then said forum found some use. For instance, I host the SNES RPG project, and I admin/mod several other phpBB based forums, so having my own forum allowed me to play with it some, see how the mod/admin controls work, etc.

OK, I forgot to mention: software can be installed on Linux in one of several ways: 1. compiling from source 2. RPM/DEB packages 3. through your distro's package manager and as far as installing software goes, what's wrong with using Gentoo Linux and typing man emerge. You will learn most of what yo...

A mod which doesn't allow you to put a www link in profiles

I've already done a search on this, and it's broken. Once I was prompted to download search.php (using FireFox 1.5.0.1 for Gentoo Linux), also sometimes I was directed to a blank white page. Anyway, my idea is this: Not allowing you to input a www link in your profile till, say you get x amount of p...

A couple points I forgot to mention in the other Vista thread: First, I believe I got my Vista installed in like 10 GB. I'm guessing the extra 5GB would probably dedicated to your swapfile. Also, Windows Vista has a 32-bit bulid, that's what I've been using all this time.. Personally atm I'm staying...

I installed Linux on my second computer just for the experience. Unfortunately I couldn't figure how to install new software other than what came with the Linux package itself. Maybe you should've gone with another distro ? Here's all the distros with a package manager: *buntu (Adept, apt, Synaptic...
