Re: I can't access my forum..

Hi, What those errors mean is that the database machine that you're using is so busy that it can't take any new connections until others have been ended. It seems from the paths in the error messages that you're on shared hosting. It is quite common to have hundreds of sites on a single machine with...

Re: General CVS questions :P

You need to do an anonymous checkout. From http://area51.phpbb.com/cvs: phpBB 3.0.x introduces a significant number of core changes to various routines and functions as well as the database schema. We heavily recommend that you do not use this code unless you are very comfortable with manual databas...

Re: General CVS questions :P

I wouldn't recommend you keep doing that. If new files were moved, renamed, things might get broken. It's much easier just to take a CVS checkout. Plus it's easier and faster (only changed files are downloaded/updated). It's fairly easy to get a CVS checkout; google for TortoiseCVS and then follow t...

Re: Can I step down as admin?

Then everything should be good to go. it never hurts for them to test it out before you leave, but not necessary.

Good Luck!

Re: General CVS questions :P

That does work. The best way to stay with the very latest version is to do an CVS 'checkout', so a copy of the repository is created on your computer. They when the developers commit changes, simply 'update' your copy and you'll have the very latest changes right on your computer. Google for 'Anonym...

Re: question

Hi,

This (or a variation of this) is the new style for phpBB3.

There is no release date given (nor will one be given... ever)

Re: Bots registering?

Yes, they're all there by default. This way, when they crawl your site, phpBB automatically detects this and stops them from creating hundreds of sessions, which happened in phpBB 2.0.x and could easily eat up tons of bandwidth.

Re: General CVS questions :P

The CVS is automatically generated every night and available for download on the Area51 website. It will include all latest versions of the phpBB3 files. If you download and install that package, you will have the most up to date version available. Note that things may be broken, as it wouldn't have...

Re: Can I step down as admin?

Hi, You want to make sure that you have given them the access level of 'Administrator', not the rank of 'Admin'. The option to give Administrator access is in the User Permissions section of the ACP, while changing the rank is done in the User Profile section. Please keep in mind that the rank of ad...

Re: How to change the ACP style ?

As far as I know, you are not able to change the ACP style because the developers were concerned that badly made templates could possibly prevent the ACP from displaying correctly. Having only one style can prevent that.

Just tested your site in IE 6.0 and the image loaded fine. Does it only happen in specific browsers?

Hi, I believe that a forum is exactly what you need. Once you install it, you don't really have a lot to do. Be sure to make plenty of backups, daily if possible. You can also install the Attachment MOD onto the board as well, to allow your members to upload pictures. Be sure to read this for a lot ...

Hi, You should read this document. It explains how to get started. Basically, to operate phpBB on the web, you need to host the files on a server somewhere. Most people typically purchase shared hosting. Once you have hosting, you upload the files to the server, and install phpBB. The information to...
