Re: Forum sort order

tumba25,

Thank you for the excellent mod. It was precisely what I needed for a private phpBB installation that I admin. Your mod is easy to apply, instructions were perfect, and it works exactly as advertised.

Thanks again! :)

Re: Where you would like to live

I live an hour from San Francisco. That city is alright. I have some friends that live there and its a nice place visit but you wouldnt want to live there. It is compacted, dirty, polluted, over populated, extremely overpriced and most people there are very rude. One good thing about it is the bus'...

Re: Signatures

I read all of the signatures and click on a decent share of them. It is interesting to see what y'all are up to on your own sites.

Re: Where you would like to live

If I had to move out of my native California, I'd like my destination to be a place where.... It never snows, it very rarely becomes extremely hot, and rain is not annoyingly frequent. I can make do with English as my only language. The government is a democracy, republic, or a constitutional monarc...

Re: Using pictures from TV shows?

The concept of "Fair Use" in the USA is complex, often misunderstood, and frequently embellished by "urban myth". If a claim of "Fair Use" is your planned first line of defense against a copyright complaint, then you are probably (but not definitely) in the wrong and you should ask for permission to...

Re: Using pictures from TV shows?

I agree with Jim, get a definitive answer. Don't rely on the advice of people that run fan sites. On a related matter, you might remember that just a few months ago the music artist known as Prince threatened to sue fan sites to remove images, lyrics, etc. My site displays album cover art for CDs, b...

Re: Past their "sell by date"!

I would like to see some younger minds in charge every now and then.

I'm an employee of a US federal government agency, and I've wondered if things would be different at the top if US Presidents were required to pass a civil service test in order to the get the job.

Re: Why do you like phpBB2/3?

I liked phpBB2 (when I was using it). I like phpBB3 now because... Easy to install, administer, use, and maintain. Suits my needs well. Suits my user's needs well. I've never had a user ask why I'm not using some other kind of board. Easy to integrate the phpBB login with a PHP site. Module Manageme...

Re: The end of Netscape

Interesting news, especially for those of us old enough to have been active on the Internet during Netscape's most popular days. Back then it would have been difficult for many of us to imagine that Netscape could become irrelevant so quickly. I have fond memories of Netscape, but I haven't used it ...

That sounds like a complaint. Focusing on the negative? ;)

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yeah, what all of them said! :)

I upgraded from RC5 to Gold a few days ago and I'm loving it.

I want to express my gratitude to everybody involved in the making of phpBB for their excellent work, their dedication, and their generosity.

Thank you!

Re: [BETA] Simple Points System

I'm not having any problems myself. My avatar loads lightning fast and I can download the file like any other. But seeing that multiple people are having these issues, I'll contact my host and look into this. If it would help you to have a tracert from someone that isn't able to connect to your sit...

Thanks for going on the record with that. Since you don't object, I've made a copy available on my own domain (temporarily) for annepenullar and I've sent the appropriate instructions privately.

Re: [BETA] Simple Points System

I'm still not able to download from phpbb-gaming.com :( so I guess I'll just wait until I get a respond from Handyman about CashMod's sql issue. Eitherway, if anybody could please upload a mirror. It doesn't seem like the author favors of this though. Alternatively, emailing me the file would be go...

Re: [BETA] Simple Points System

In case you're interested in positive feedback... I installed this excellent mod many months ago. Until yesterday I was still using RC5 of phpBB because I'd been too busy lately to upgrade my board. Yesterday, I finally upgraded from RC5 to GOLD via the "replace all files" method. Then I re-installe...
