Re: PHP Versions: Of horses, and carts before them

Stick with 7.0.x at the moment. I can't stick with 7.0.x at the moment, if I'm currently running PHP 5.6.39 with phpBB 3.2.1. Read my initial post. I want to know how to get there, from here. That is: If I upgrade PHP 5.6.39 to PHP 7.x, and do nothing else - does my phpBB 3.2.1 board break? Or, mus...

If I first upgrade PHP on my server to 7.2.10 - will my 3.2.1 board continue to work, until I get around to upgrading my board?
Not really fine.
Not really fine? OK. What's the recommended approach?

Re: PHP Versions: Of horses, and carts before them

Yes, i'm running phpBB on PHP 7.2.16 Do you mean to say, you are running phpBB 3.2.1 on PHP 7.2.x? It's clear to me, that later versions of phpBB are supported by PHP 7.2.x. My question, specifically, is if my current version of phpBB - 3.2.1 - will continue to work if I upgrade PHP to 7.2.x, befor...

PHP Versions: Of horses, and carts before them

I'm currently running a 3.2.1 phpBB board, PHP version 5.6.39. I plan to upgrade phpBB to 3.2.5.

If I first upgrade PHP on my server to 7.2.10 - will my 3.2.1 board continue to work, until I get around to upgrading my board?

Ah; the largest range that can be specified in 32 bits. BTW, that range is incorrect; it should be -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647.

Re: [3.2][BETA] Topic Cement Style

Those database types with a :%d should be declared specifically by the extension, so while it may default to 11, you should specify it. All occurrences of :%d should be replaced by an actual integer of how many numbers you want. I'm unclear on exactly what this means. Should I declare something lik...

Re: [3.2][BETA] Topic Cement Style

I will not support code not explicitely approved/merged by us in the master (for future readers) That's fine, and I understand. But as I explained in my previous post, what I asked for is a very useful enhancement to me; and I presume to others, which is why I disclosed what I did in order to provi...

Re: [3.2][BETA] Topic Cement Style

If folks should find that they would like to use this most excellent extension to decrease a topic priority, as well as increase it - I submit for the author's consideration, the following two tweaks. Open [board]/ext/phpbbstudio/tcs/styles/prosilver/template/event/posting_editor_subject_after.html ...

Re: [3.2][BETA] Topic Cement Style

This is a very nice extension! But... I realize, I'm looking for another feature. I have older, dated content that I would like to move into an active subforum (e.g., posts about car events that happened several years ago). I would like to arrange my content in reverse chronological order - i.e., mo...

Re: new registrants getting old reference to site

D'Oh! Thassit. I purged the cache, and created a test account - and fershur, it included http://, not https://

Thanks!

new registrants getting old reference to site

I once had a certificate installed for my site, but I've since abandoned it because the overhead for data encryption was too much for my server. However, a new registrant complained they could not reach my site to activate their account: Username: [snip] Board URL: https: //www.59plymouth.net/59foru...

Re: [3.2][BETA] Topic Cement Style

A few questions about priority... 1) If I have multiple posts with a priority of, say, 7 - what determines the order of the posts within that set? Is it posting time? 2) Will a posting without a priority set, always appear below posts where the priority is set? 3) is there a maximum value for priori...

Reordering Topics Redux

I see that many folk have an interest in being able to reorder topics - as I do. One extension that seems like it ought to do the trick, is being able to change the post time . But there is another extension that suggests you can change the topic hierarchy . Yet another in development, makes a provi...
