problem with capcha

I have 3.2.0. When I initially set it up, I used the built-in captcha utility, but soon was almost overwhelmed by spammers. As a result, I went back to using a question to prevent spammers. Most of the time it works...but on occasion I get someone complaining that although they have the correct answ...

Re: advanced email notification

so I spent my time more usefully working out a quick solution. Andre. Three things.. First, thanks for that work. I appreciate your open-mindedness and the expenditure of your time. It is refreshing to see someone who understands. Second, Can you post a screen shot showing an email notification gen...

Re: advanced email notification

Too bad this forum doesn't implement polls, because I'd like to create one (although it wouldn't be exactly unbiased simply because most of those responding would be administrators rather than users). Nevertheless, I'd like to ask all those administrators: If a functionality like Prime Notify were o...

Re: advanced email notification

Everybody requesting such a feature either misses the intention of a BBS like phpBB or doesn't know alternatives or doesn't even know phpBB in detail. Over all the years not one of those requests had a good reason. All this is according to you . Conforming to your vision...with no allowance for any...

Re: rotate images / attachments

Yeah I just left them but if they really annoyed me I downloaded them and re uploaded them to make them show correctly Well, I'm in the process of doing that now. Thankfully I only have ten or so on my forum that are like this. I'd like to have a solution to the original problem--that of attached p...

Re: rotate images / attachments

I have had this problem and it was discussed in this thread https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=64&p=14772241 after making the edits suggested in this thread I have not had an issue with wrongly orientated images Thank you. So what did you do about the previously uploaded attachments? d...

Re: rotate images / attachments

Coalman, I appreciate your input...thank you. Not entirely confused but, two things...first, I am having a hard time associating this problem with the browser. The images appear rotated both at as thumbnails and as full size photos on the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. As well as IE. v.11.0....

Re: rotate images / attachments

Your one attached image not withstanding, if you check the link I provided above the attached images do not reorient correctly. The thumb is rotated and the full size images are rotated. This on two separate computers. When you click on it yes, it remains the same rotation. That's probably due to t...

Re: rotate images / attachments

as far as an example Thanks. It seems the ones that are orientated incorrectly were taken in portrait? I don't know...I don't think so. I didn't take the photos. I have the Samsung S6. It takes photos fine and they post fine. It is only these ten that were taken with an IPhone that have problems. T...

Re: rotate images / attachments

And I might add that looking at @thecoalman's photo above, it appears rotated here. But when it is clicked on, the expanded photo is rotated back to the proper aspect / orientation. Do you have an example URL where this happens? I'm not saying I have a fix or anything I'm just interested to see what...

Re: rotate images / attachments

If the pictures are taken in landscape do they always display in landscape? Yes, they do. But this is weird...on the PC (in a 3.2 phpBB forum using Lightbox) the thumbnails are rotated and when the photo is clicked on, it opens up rotated. And very, very slowly. When the self-same forum is opened o...

Re: rotate images / attachments

It is ALL internet uploads. No it isn't. It only becomes an issue when A)the software displaying the image does not support orientation or B)software manipulating an image does not take into account orientation before manipulation and strips the EXIF data. All browsers support orientation and plupl...

Re: rotate images / attachments

Are you asking this because some images are displaying sideways? This is an iPhone issue. Yes, exactly! I don't have an IPhone but one of my students does and out of 8 (?) images attached every one of them seems to be 90°counterclockwise. I would try to download each and rotate them in a program li...
