Re: Newly Registered Users also in Registered users

User registration settings Set the new member post limit to what you want. Now all NEW registrations will be governed by that number of posts. For the things you don't want them to be able to do you need to set the group or forum permission to NEVER. So I don't see "member posts or limits" on the U...

Re: Merged towards the wrong topic, now Need Redirect

OK let me answer my own questions. I got what I wanted by something similar to. update phpbb_posts set topic_id=654 where topic_id=1418 update phpbb_topics set topic_id=653 where topic_id=1418 Now I just need to see if I can have like a 301 redirect that I'm missing from when I stuffed up the merge ...

Merged towards the wrong topic, now Need Redirect

Bum. I got it wrong when I merged two topics. I wanted the other way round. So now I have viewtopic?t=1418 as the merged topic and I really wanted the merged topic as viewtopic?t=654 Is there anyway to move the thread now ? Google has indexed this thread under the 654 thread and that now shows that ...

Re: can you sort the order of (global)Announcements and stic

I came here to this thread looking for an answer as well - I want to set the order of global threads - but alas it seems I cannot.

Re: SiteGround - Server Overload Problems

The term "unlimited" when referring to shared hosting really is bordering meaningless and misleading.

2 of my shared hosts have around 400 supposed neighbours using that link and my business hosting has just 4 neighbours.

Re: SiteGround - Server Overload Problems

Siteground seem professional enough and are serious enough about building a proper business that I don't believe that they would try to extort money from their customers. They want happy customers. Part of the problem is that the hosting market is really cut throat, especially for low cost shared ho...

Re: SiteGround - Server Overload Problems

When I asked for the execution log I could see all of the calls to the phpBB scripts, the wordpress scripts, images etc - so it looked to me like they were genuinely indicating what was being executed so often. CPU usage, disk space and bandwidth are all way below the limit, but simply the number of...

Re: SiteGround - Server Overload Problems

Good to hear that you are still with SiteGround, gives me hope that I can stay as well. Their support is excellent and their product is also very reliable - just that I seem to be stretching the limits of affordability.

Re: SiteGround - Server Overload Problems

I had a shared hosting account with siteground as well. Each year I would get one of these emails and find something wrong that brought me back out of their sights. Finally though my phpbb forum and wordpress blog was too popular and I couldn't get away with staying on a shared server. I am on the c...

Re: hidden web links

hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I have implemented the custom fields on the signup page and that dropped off my automated spambot registration to nil - a great hack. this hidden web link spam is new and definitely from a `clever' human spammer. Perhaps others aren't seeing it yet, but I would think t...

hidden web links

Anyone else seeing new members posting hidden text web links in messages ? You can't see them unless you hover over some white space. Editing a message or hitting the ? to query a post (using moderator privs that is) does show the link. Here is an example That's pretty good. (bigkiss) (vangry) [url=...

Re: How to use PHP in phpBB3. All files seem .html

Should the filenames also be changed from .html to .php ? I have turned on the php setting in the ACP and used the recommended PHP opening and closing tags, though it seems not to work yet after a hard refresh(Ctrl+F5). The PHP code does not get parsed yet. you might need some .htaccess magic to te...

Re: phpBB3 Forum Integration

You know, what would be really nice would be a Wordpress theme using the colours, fonts and general layout of prosilver from phpBB3. That would be sweet. The board here at phpbb.com/community is also very nice, but one thing you lose with a fixed width image at the top, is that you don't get extra t...
