Does anyone have a forum with this mod functioning? I'd like to see it.

Large Migration

Moving a forum to a new server proved difficult when we had around 75,000 posts. Now, the forum has well over 200,000 posts. Exactly what is the best way to move a forum? Oftentimes, the SQL file is so large that the phpMyAdmin is incapable of importing it.

Re: 'max_user_connections' Error

My forums has been experiencing this issue as well. Restarting the MySQL server is the best (temporary) solution?

Re: One tiny query leads to connection overload!

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! I will be sure to give that one a try! UPDATE -- NOOOOOOO! I implemented the code you provided. At first, it seemed to load a tad faster than my code. However, the same problem arose SECONDS after I deploy it to the live site: SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] User **** has...

Re: One tiny query leads to connection overload!

I made my own db object. The connection is established in the constructor, so I am pretty sure it does not attempt connections over and over.

Re: One tiny query leads to connection overload!

The error message is implying that the query is being run multiple times without closing the connection, as if multiple users are running it simultaniously, or it is stuck in a loop and running the query multiple times without exiting. I imagined that was the problem, but I have carefully scanned o...

Re: One tiny query leads to connection overload!

Brf wrote:Where did you put the query?
The query is run from a non-phpBB page (PHP file). It just accesses the database directly. Did that answer your question? It's kinda vague.

One tiny query leads to connection overload!

This blows my mind. Please someone help me. I establish a simple MySQL connection and run this query. SELECT p.`post_subject`, u.`username`, p.`forum_id`, p.`topic_id`, p.`post_id` FROM `phpbb_posts` p INNER JOIN `phpbb_users` u ON p.`poster_id` = u.`user_id` WHERE p.`forum_id` NOT IN(12, 13, 92) OR...

If it is, please show us where. I looked into the BB code section of source code, and it is a semi-complex class that requires a full phpBB environment.

It always seems to be skin related. Make sure you have the latest version of your skin to match the version of your forums.

Re: Pulling a single post from the forum for use on the site.

Yes, I ran into the same problem. Getting the post is easy; formatting the BB codes is extremely difficult. :(
