Re: Can't add custom profile field

Perfect! Thank you very much. I get really lost in the ACP--I think I needs a more intuitive organization (or I just need to use it more...)

Thanks!

Re: Bannin and topic deletion for newbies

It's not seperated by page persay, you just need to do all three options individually. It's seperated because the user may or may not want to use the options seperately--in many cases, one type of ban is more than enough. As for deletion, only users with access to the ACP user management module can ...

Re: How to Add Links to Header?

If you want to center it, you can apply the align="center" attribute to the page-header div (note that align is not strict html and I'm sure there's another way to do it, but, since I don't normally use tables, this is the best I could come up with). And I can't figure out how to change the padding/...

Re: Drupal - phpBB ... Just asking for an advise

Because you have to have the drupal login integration, you have to have something that does not have two log-ins per person. Those advanced drupal forum modules that you mentioned looked great. You really don't need all the power of phpbb (because a lot of its functionality is repeated in drupal suc...

Re: Forumotion

You'll probably have to pay for any type of script that does that because a) it is relatively uncommon and b) it is only mainly used to make money. Thus, after doing a quick google search , I found these two MODs: EchoPHP and sebflipper . (Note that neither of these are very expensive and I have not...

Re: Adding a Logo to the header

/styles/_stylename_/template/overall_header.html contains all the html used to make the header on every page. If you know HTML, you can edit this file manually to place your link on the right side of the header or change whatever you want. Doing what HardStyle said is simpler, but it will only chan...

Re: Copyright notice

Putting the version in the footer would take away the security by obscurity. Also, The system administrator can go into the ACP and click on "System". There it will tell him/her if the board needs any updates. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to write a script/mod to email/PM the administrator whene...

Re: Where can I play?

I think this is what you're looking for: http://php.opensourcecms.com/scripts/details.php?scriptid=123&name=phpBB It's a phpBB demo that lets you log in as the administrator and do whatever you want. The demo is reset every 2 hours. It is ad-supported, but they are kept in a separate frame on top so...

Re: Add bots to a Free PHPBB site?

Are you talking about "Spiders/Robots"? (I'm not sure if there are any other type of bots in phpbb). If so, you can manually add them back in by clicking "Add bot" at the end of the page (System>Spiders/Robots). Many free hosting companies will let you email them sql queries for them to run. Here is...

The reason I like google is because I get what I expect from a search and it is very simple... Bing just doesn't do anything for me (just like MSN search and live.com didn't)

Re: what software to batch rename a large number of pictures ..

I've found Ant Renamer to be incredibly helpful and simple to use with a lot of power. Also, if you have adobe bridge installed (you can get it for free by installing any of the adobe trials), it has a built in batch renamer.

Re: The new Internet Explorer 8: Fast and smooth like Firefox!

I was very glad to see all the improvements in IE8. It seems like Microsoft is actually taking web standards seriously for once (and providing a way to view the web in IE7 mode for everything they messed up). Though I still won't use it (no support for theming, no extensions, always tries to force M...

Re: Drupal - phpBB ... Just asking for an advise

Without saying, phpBB is obviously much more powerful and has many more features than the Drupal forum module. Why do you need people to log in to drupal? Most of what drupal does is manage content, not build a community (though you can do that also). Unless you really need people to log in to drupa...
