Re: [Discuss] Welcome Back phpBB.com

LinkedIn doesn't allow anything else other than employees. LinkedIn has a volunteer section. On my profile that is where I put my time with phpBB. It does not on company profiles, which is what was being discussed here. So it lists all of these volunteers as employees? Interesting. I saw the part a...

Re: Rapid phpBB Development - Oh the Joy!

There's no obvious system for how a feature gets included. I post an RFC to Area51, then get feedback. Then ???. But there's no BDFL who has the final say, or a threshold for how much support is necessary/sufficient. I would be unlikely to develop a feature without believing it has a good chance to...

Re: phpBB-BBCode-Javascript-Parser

I wrote it as a proof of concept. It is suppose to be the phpBB3 BBCode parser written in javascript so that it could be used in a rich text/wysiwyg editor. Here is a plugin for ckeditor that uses it: https://gist.github.com/wGEric/1595828 It has bugs and at this point I don't have any plans to fix ...

Re: When

It was 5 1/2 years to get to phpBB3 from phpBB2. It's been 4 1/2 years since phpBB3 released. phpBB4 is pretty much not started (some planning and there has been talk of work on external librarys that will be needed for phpBB4, but no actual code for it). I wouldn't think about phpBB4, at the rate ...

Post preview on hover of topic title

When you hover over a topic title then a popup would show a preview (shortened version) of the first post. Like this: http://pictures.ericfaerber.com/post-preview.png Using other forums I find this feature useful since a lot of topic titles aren't descriptive enough. Being able to see the first part...

You are limited to only what is being shown in that box. It would be nice to have a multiquote that would span across multiple pages.

Re: Drag and drop files to add attachments

Or dragging a single file from a directory with lots of files with similar names. File explorers usually have better interfaces for finding files than browsers do. You can already do that by dragging file to file input. I think all browsers support that. Yes but this would make it easier/more conve...

Re: gmail.com spam users with multiple dots in email usernam

If you are going to write code then wouldn't it be better to strip all periods from the username portion of gmail addresses and then proceed with the registration process? That way it will fail the duplicate email check since none of the gmail addresses have periods and people will get an error mess...

Re: One year later, "phpBB Falling Behind"

I would really appreciate it if you would try and help us too, rather than tie up tons of people in pointless discussions like this one. Discussions like this are what made me decide that I don't want to contribute. From yours and Marshalrusty's replies I see that things are the same as they were a...

One year later, "phpBB Falling Behind"

It has been over a year since I posted the phpBB Falling Behind topic. 3.1 appears to be a little closer to release but still a long ways off. AJAX was merged. Template events have been merged. Migrations (part of extensions) is still a blocker. phpBB really is falling further and further behind. It...

Re: What is the reason for so many users moving to myBB

I did a lot of research before starting out with my first forum. After a lot of comparisons between phpBB, myBB, SMF, bbPress, IPboard, Advanced Electron and many others I finally chosed phpBB ( tough my research actually favoured myBB over phpBB ) for just one good reason, Community Support. From ...
