Re: Server gone away error

MariaDB 10.5.8, 10.4.17, 10.3.27, and 10.2.36 is now available that corrects the excessive memory usage by long list of IN parameters that is presumed to be the cause of this error. Apologies from the MariaDB community. We wish you a happy upgrade and continued stability. I will speak to my host ab...

Re: Server gone away error

I got a reply to the first of my bug reports, the one I filed after mariadb crashed. Does this help in anyway? https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-24163?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=171838#comment-171838 https://jira.mariadb.org/brows...

Maybe it's a good idea to change the subject of the topic to advise people not to upgrade to the latest mariaDB released this week.
Maybe a better idea to start a new topic with all the info and to link to the posts where people are having problems? :?

Re: Server gone away error

The thing is, things don’t change by themselves. If you did nothing to cause this problem then the host must have and in this case it looks like a dB update. If you’re self managed try 10.3.27 & if that’s the same go back to 10.3.2 or another known good version (if that’s safe to do?) I’ve just...

Re: Server gone away error

It’s a self managed VPS Yes mines the same and that update on the 4th broke my forum! disabling board wide emails solved the issue but obviously thats not the fix Downgrading my update to the previous version solved it but I am still yet to find out if its MariaDB thats the problem or phpBB software

Re: Server gone away error

You didn't get "shot down". The ticket is still open. All that happened is that one user opined that it was a host issue. Is it a host issue or is it a phpBB issue in that it doesn't work with the latest version of MariaDB? Everyone is all too quick to point towards the host all the time ...

Get your host to downgrade MariaDB to the previous version to rule it out at least.

Re: Very slow sql / SQL -In- with all forum_id / viewforum.php

tosmatrix3 your problem is MariaDB version 10.3.26 it causes huge memory usage for some reason! I had some similar issues see the topic posted below Disabling board wide emails made things work for me but you need to get your host to downgrade MariaDB to the previous version 10.3.25 and it will all ...

Re: Server gone away error

MariaDB 10.3.26 breaks the forum! I have had my host downgrade to MariaDB 10.3.25 and everything works fine As a work around disabling board wide emails enables the forum to work otherwise you get huge server memory usage and it crashes the database Could this be a bug in phpBB or that fact that som...

Re: Very slow sql / SQL -In- with all forum_id / viewforum.php

I think it's a problem with Mariadb and the update to 10.3.26 I am having massive issues and oddly disabling board wide emails solves my issue!

I know it's a long shot but try it and see if that works for you

Re: my database keeps crashing

I thought it could be related to something else

Anyway I had the same issue a while back and I'm pretty sure the sessions needed to be cleared!
