Re: Restricting registration from an IP range

Anyway I got it figured out. Below is what I did. Note the ip to block is hard-coded into this code, so change it to something u need. The code below blocks the ip 192.168.5.10 and also the ip ranges starting with 172 (i.e. 172.*.*.*) and 169.100 //code by applegrew $guest_ip=explode(".",$_SERVER['R...

Hello. Thanks for all the help. It now seems that banning on basis of MAC is very difficult and not worth the effort.

I am hosting it in our college intranet and I doubt anybody here will try to spoof MAC address. I am putting this as a deterrent just as banning IP is. Changing IP is by far more easier.

How do I log MAC address of users

How do I log the mac address using which a particular user has registered and also the mac addresses of the computers (network cards actually) they are using to make posts (just as phpBB keeps record of IPs of postings)? I would also like a mod to ban particular mac addresses just like the IP, usern...

Did you use Easymod to install WYSIWYG MOD or you installed it manually? Please note that this MOD has been tested with phpbb 2.0.22. I'm not sure if it will work with older phpbb version or not. Since I can't see your site so I can't tell you exactly where to fix the problem. I have used easymod a...

Does the domain name point to the URL on your computer? Or has it been moved to another computer? If it has been moved to a diffeent computer, why not just place an index.htm file in the forum root on your computer they are accessing by IP with a message and a link redirecting them and advising the...

How can I have two server name for the same forum?

I am hosting an inter-college forum and so everybody access it using the IP of my computer, but now we want to move to be accessible by domain name (we have made the necessary arrangements). But now the problem is that during the transition period many people may still use the IP directly and this c...

how do i make moderators appear normal users in other forums

Is there a way to make moderators of a forum appear as a normal users in all other forums where they are not moderators? i.e. their special ranks will change to that of normal user's rank (both rank message and picture).

 OOps. Maybe you mean that if I put the code of attachment mode in your posting_body_ie.tpl then it will work fine. I have now fixed it, but there is still a glitch; it was there since the first time I installed your mod; all the smilieys pics that I put in the editor don't show up in the fina...
