Re: Please help i have a big problem !!!

Sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to do. I think you need to find some instruction on html and ftp in your own language.

Re: Please help i have a big problem !!!

This should be a file called 'index.html' of your website http://www.thebestforum.co.cc. It should be in the directory called 'public_html' of the server.

Re: PHP Version Information

If you upload a file with just one line: phpinfo(); to your server and call it by typing it's address into your browser window, you'll get every possible detail about your version of php. It'll be interesting to see what the result is! The other possibility is that two versions of php are both prese...

Re: Adding a Nav Bar Link

Yeah, that's kind of mysterious, isn't it? My first thought was that either css was making it invisible or text color = background colour, but it isn't that. The xhtml header looks pretty normal, so maybe that really isn't the file getting displayed? Wish I had more time to dig into this. I'll try a...

Re: Strange Question.

No, I definitely don't! The forum I look after has 400 subscribers and most ever online at one time was 49! The sort of thing you're talking about is a few orders of magnitude bigger. The only things I can say for certain is that mySQL can handle big databases really well, and that above a certain s...

Re: Please help i have a big problem !!!

Well, http://www.thebestforum.co.cc doesn't come up at all for me (using Opera 9.5). At a quick glance, the html looks pretty duff: the css reference and the javascript should be in <head></head> tags, for example, and you seem to have put a bit of javascript in after the </body> tag that I shouldn'...

Re: Strange Question.

Phew! With that number of users you're going to require a ton of bandwidth and the database is going to get big fast. I hope your site is going to be revenue earning, because it isn't going to be cheap to host. If you seriously think you are going to get those kind of numbers I think you definitely ...

Re: Recurring MySQL error

Yeah, stevemaury's right: give them the message, tell them how often you're getting it. It's a server problem, no doubt at all.

Re: Recurring MySQL error

If i remember correctly, too many connections just generates a mySQL error that says 'too many connections', so I don't think it's the server load. I think you need to talk to your web hosting company about this because it sounds like the mySQL daemon* isn't running on the server. Sorry! what...

Re: What does this mean?

hi Yoo,
It's a message from the php engine to say that there's a syntax error in this file mcp.php. There are two things you could do:
Either try to debug mcp.php
Or reinstall the file.
No-brainer really! Just reinstall mcp.php and the problem (should) evaporate!
Hope that helps,
Dave

Re: What is that sign "cron"

Hi ToonArmy, Agreed the code's doing what it ought to do, but there are a couple of problems: 1. Your users don't understand what 'cron' means which isn't surprising: most people don't have a *nix background. It would be more helpful if the message was 'autoprune is on' or something. (assuming it's ...

Re: phpBB3 won't recognize my MySQL server

Hi Liam Wi: it sounds as though you've got php installed but not mysql. I haven't done it with Debian, but I have them running on a Mandriva box, and (AFAI can remember) I installed MYSQL first and php second. You can access mysql from the command line: someting like #>mysql -u username -ppassword (...
