stevemaury wrote:What is "this thing"?
It's the start of the old demonstration of what a difference commas make.
e.g. "What is this thing called love?", v "What is this thing called, love" ;)

Re: [Split] How to move avatars from phpbb2 to phpbb3

I can't do the conversion again because there are many new posts in my phpbb3 forum. Fair enough. I thought that might be the case. So what else do I lose by not setting the permissions for those folders? Just the avatars? Or anything else? The avatars can be reuploaded. But what else is lost? If y...

Re: [Split] How to move avatars from phpbb2 to phpbb3

No I didn't. But I never locked those folders either. New folders default to minimum permissions as a security measure. i.e. they ARE locked by default until you deliberately unlock them. That is standard behaviour on all Linux based web servers. What can I do now? Do the conversion again. Can't th...

Re: [Split] How to move avatars from phpbb2 to phpbb3

Most likely a permissions problem on the avatars folder when the conversion was done would cause this. Did you set them as described in the INSTALL document? From step 4 of the "Quick Install" instructions: 4.Change the permissions on the following directories to be writable by all (777 or...

Re: How to move avatars from phpbb2 to phpbb3

... How would it happen automatically? When you convert the database, none of the files from phpbb2 are migrated over during the conversion process. ... On what basis do you make this statement? The phpBB2 convertor contains this function: /** * Transfer avatars, copying the image if it was uploade...

If you want some help with your problem, you need to supply some information about YOUR BOARD, or it's impossible for anyone to attempt to help.

It might be an idea to edit the comment at the same time, from:

Re: star rating bbcode

No. What was asked in this topic is specifically NOT a way to rate posts, if you read the first post.
That would require a MOD, so this solution is no help to you.

It is a custom bbcode, not a Mod.

Not if you have used the Google Webmaster Tools to tell Google what your default file is.
If you are concerned about SEO, then using GWT to monitor your site is essential.

Re: Changing the board index URL

Why?
That adds an extra step into how your web server handles accesses to the default address, where it has to internally generate a redirect to index.php.
