Re: Missing posts and topics from 3 months...

Just to let you know that I got this back form the hosting company: "There was a hardware fault on the database server affecting a single partition, causing some data to be unreadable. Only certain databases were affected, there was no impact on the web files or mails which are on different servers....

Re: Missing posts and topics from 3 months...

Hello. Thanks for your input. Generally, if you've done nothing to cause this issue then someone else has, probably your host. Ask them if they've done anything around those dates such as a roll back or similar. You may find something in the server error logs to give you a clue. I have contacted the...

Missing posts and topics from 3 months...

Hello, I have just logged into one of the forums I have setup and manage and discovered that just over three months worth of posts and topics have disappeared! From 6th July till 4th October have gone. Any idea how this could occur? Only I have admin control to be able to remove posts and topics and...

Re: Attendance register

Hello and thanks for the contributions to this. I have had a look at the options but need to have a further think as to how they best serve my purpose. As ever its good to see working samples of such additions and to get an idea what they are like and how they can be varied before setting them up. L...

Attendance register

Is there a way to create an attendance register in a similar way to the way a poll can be setup in a post.
This would allow members to tick a box to indicate their availability for events/meetings.

Not sure if there is a mod for this as I never noticed one.

Thanks for any inputs.

Re: Repeated SQL Error

Many thanks for your speedy response.
That makes sense.
I had contacted the hosting company and they had reset the connection but obviously this seemed to be a temporary respite. I shall contact them again and see what they can do for a more permanent solution.

Thanks again.

Repeated SQL Error

One of the forums I have set up is continually returning the following error and I was wondering if anyone can shed a light on this at all?

"General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Too many connections [1040]"

How can I overcome this issue? Other than that the forum is working well.

Many thanks.

Re: Upgrading to 3.1.4 from 3.0.14 -mods/extensions required

Thanks for getting back to me. The hookup extension looks quite close to what I was looking for. I guess it maybe needs testing in a live forum but at the stage I am at with things on the forums I have setup it may be a bit risky. Its always good the hear of anyone who may have tested it or even hav...

Re: Upgrading to 3.1.4 from 3.0.14 -mods/extensions required

Many thanks for your response. I shall check out tapatalk regards this. I reckon they are offering an up to date version for the latest phpBB release. The advanced polls looks like it does what I need so that is great. The user blog mod is one which I use and am trying to encourage users to engage w...

Upgrading to 3.1.4 from 3.0.14 -mods/extensions required

I am looking to upgrade from 3.1.4 from 3.0.14 and am checking out what mods are now redundant and whether there are replacement extensions to fulfil the task of the previous mods. However when I go to do a search of the extensions database I keep getting the message that the system is currently una...

Re: Fixing width issue with forum & header-confusion (Airmiles style)

Thanks for that. I can usually pick my way through code and resolve such things but I think I was under a bit of pressure from myself to resolve this page and had a blank there. As ever I really appreciate your help with this. Many many thanks. The page is as it should be now and I can revise the li...

Re: Fixing width issue with forum & header-confusion (Airmiles style)

Thanks for that. The width issue has been resolved and I think I am almost where I want to be with this. The final bit for uniformity with the rest of the pages on the main site is that I'd like to have thin black lines down the edges of the page. What would be the best way to achieve this with the ...

Re: Fixing width issue with forum & header-confusion (Airmiles style)

Thanks for your patience. I have just installed a forum update and that appears to have kicked in the changes. Almost there with what I was trying to achieve. I was using the web inspector to see where items were but then I was editing the files using the edit feature in Transmit which I use for all...

Re: Fixing width issue with forum & header-confusion (Airmiles style)

Thanks for your speedy response.
Excuse my lack of knowledge here but I cannot find the Pagediv in the files to amend it. I assumed it would be in maybe the overall_header file but it isn't. Any thoughts on how to track it down at all?

Thanks again

Fixing width issue with forum & header-confusion (Airmiles style)

Hello, I hope that this does not antagonise anyone due to my relative daftness. I have setup this forum: http://www.thegorbals.co.uk/thegorbalsanecdotes/index.php I was looking to centre the whole forum and have it all wrapped up within a fixed width 1250px div. I have been looking through the detai...
