You are correct. I did do my research and did not post this without looking first for at least half a year. It just so happens that I found the answer after posting this.

Re: This is what I did.

I had the same trouble. This is how I got by it. Make a copy first of the emailer.php file located in your INCLUDES subdirectory. Keep it as a backup. Edit your emailer.php file. Change all lines that read as follows: $result = @mail($to, $this->subject, preg_replace("#(?<!\r)\n#s", "\n", $this->ms...

Re: Problem upgrading to 3.x

Post the config.php files from both your version 2 board and your version 3 board here, without the passwords and using the code tags. Here is the config.php file from the 2.0.22 forum <?php // phpBB 2.x auto-generated config file // Do not change anything in this file! $dbms = 'mysql'; $dbhost = '...

Re: Problem upgrading to 3.x

It looks like you have installed a new forum and created a new empty database. Did you download and install the full package of 3.0.2? And is the old board version 2.0.22 ? I did install a new forum, and I HAD to create a new database before I installed the new 3.0.2 forum or else it wouldn'...

Re: Problem upgrading to 3.x

It would be helpful if you put your fear of spam aside and post a link to your board. 3.0.x is spam-free anyway. ;) OK, my original 2.x forum is here http://www.uptacamp.org/forum my new installation of 3.x is here http://www.uptacamp.org/phpBB3/ I have them both installed fine. I want to convert t...

Re: Problem upgrading to 3.x

When I do the conversion I am getting no error messages or anything. My new phpBB3 forum does not change though. I thought it would read the database of the phpBB2 forum I had and I would see all my users and threads and everything. I am putting the right information in the conversion process using ...

Re: Problem upgrading to 3.x

What does "did not work" mean? Error message, timed out, blank screen? It means that after I did the conversion, the old forum remains the same and the new 3.0 forum remains the same, no change. They are both on the same server. It goes through the entire conversion process and at the end it says t...

Problem upgrading to 3.x

I have had a phpBB forum for almost three years now. It is located under www.mydomain.org/forum. I want to upgrade to phpBB3. I have installed a phpBB3 forum on my server under www.mydomain.org/phpBB3. How do I point the new phpBB3 forum to the database of my old forum? The conversion did not work w...

Re: Converting from 2.x to 3.x

Really? No one else can lead me to a link that has discussed this problem before? All I want to do is simply upgrade my forum from 2.x to 3.x. Can anyone please lead me to a link that walks someone through this without a bunch of code talk? I know there are plenty of people that need this informatio...

Re: Converting from 2.x to 3.x

OK, I was able to run the converter again and again nothing. There is nothing wrong with the configuration, I have checked it over and over again. I am sure there has to be an easier way to do this other then going through the offline thing. I am using a MAC with OSX v10.4.10. The browser I am using...

Re: Converting from 2.x to 3.x

When the conversion is successful, will I see a new phpBB3 forum at the URL where my old 2.x forum now exists? You'll see it where the phpBB3 board is currently installed. How do I get it to come up under the URL where my old forum is installed though? Do I just change the name of the folder in my ...

Re: Converting from 2.x to 3.x

How would I run the converter again before trying it offline? I tried to upload the install folder back to my server, but I got a fatal installation message. I don't think it is a typo. Everything seems to go fine, but just no change to either boards. When the conversion is successful, will I see a ...
