Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

one other thing i was wondering: is it possible to also add a waiting period to this?

so, for example, new users were in the NRU group until they hit 5 posts AND for a minimum of 1 week?

Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

INSERT INTO phpbb_user_group (group_id, user_id, group_leader, user_pending) SELECT X, user_id, 0, 0 FROM phpbb_users WHERE user_id IN(SELECT user_id FROM phpbb_user_group WHERE user_posts < 5 AND user_type <> 2 ) X is the group_id of the NRU group, by default 7, but check the groups table. If your...

Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

thanks for all your help so far. so, now i just need to work out a batch way of adding all existing users with less than 5 posts to the NRU group :D is this standard functionality, or will there be an ACP extension for it? or maybe even a straight sql query? we have 4k+ members to search through.

Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

to clarify:

NRUs can still see and post in all other areas of the forum

they just cant see this specific forum section anymore, until they post 5 times

Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

That will work if the permission of 'can see forum' (in the advanced permissions) is on NEVER. If it's only on NO then the YES permission they have in the registered users group will override it. ahh, perfect! thank you. that worked. Remember me will work. You can do a simple test by registering a ...

Re: Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

Thanks! That all sounds pretty simple. To set the posts from 2 to 5 - ACP > General > User registration settings > New member post limit = 5. This will mean that all new registrations will go into the NRU group as well as the Registered Users group. Done! Thanks. :) Once a user has five posts then t...

Question about permissions and "Newly registered users" group

My board is a fairly recent upgrade from a phpBB2 board, now running v3.3 It has a forum that is only visible to logged in users. I'd like to change it so that the forum is only visible to logged in users with 5 or more posts However, I've never really done anything with the various phpBB3 permissio...

Re: Editing phpBB-generated emails?

Thanks.

Doesn’t surprise me tbh. I can imagine how complex it could be, and how it probably starts to move away from phpBB’s original vision and purpose, and into some kind of marketing comms platform (Of which there are many)

I’ll make do with some tweaked text emails 😎

Thanks for your help 👍

Re: Editing phpBB-generated emails?

Gotcha, thanks.

Are there any such extensions in the database?

Couldn't find any, but I think we've already established my skills at searching are less than optimal

Editing phpBB-generated emails?

The forum software sends a number of emails to users: - new registration activation - password reminders - topic subscriptions etc Is it possible to edit these? Are they stored as editable email template files, as text in a config file, or text in a database table, or something else? I'd like to mak...

Re: Random quote from a text file shown on board index?

It's live!! :D https://myheartland.co.uk/ A random lyric is pulled from a text file and appears on the homepage, instead of the "board index" link. https://i.imgur.com/3bXCVOB.png Once you navigate away from the index the lyric is replaced with the breadcrumb navigation. Quite pleased with that 8-)

Re: Random quote from a text file shown on board index?

Have posted on the extension chat but sure how active that one is, and it seems a little overkill for my rather modest needs anyway, so have spun up an extension myself using the skeleton extension kit. So far I have all the code to pluck a quote from a text file and render it on the page using all ...

Re: [3.2][DEV] Quotes Collection

I installed the quote ext on my local dev copy of the board and it works, but it doesn't quite function as I'd want. It creates a whole new block just for the quote, and adds loads of extra stuff I don't want, like a dedicated quote page. https://i.imgur.com/nfgvWlm.png I was thinking I'd just repla...
