Re: How can I properly say "DO NOT SEND MY PASSWORD IN AN EMAIL"

Except we removed it in phpBB 3.0.6. Yay. But about your other comment, if someone gets into my email because I'm at, say, Starbucks and not using the https setting in GMail and they someone exploit a security weakness... all they need to do is search "password" in my inbox and viola. The...

Re: How can I properly say "DO NOT SEND MY PASSWORD IN AN EMAIL"

Um, no. I am a hardcore web developer who is constantly using new web technologies (and subsequently have a billion and a half accounts everywhere) and phpBB forums are one of the ONLY sources of password-over-email type things. If it was standard I wouldn't be complaining about it specifically to y...

Re: How can I properly say "DO NOT SEND MY PASSWORD IN AN EMAIL"

I see the main argument for the "feature" of emailing users their passwords in plain text was in case an admin forgot their password or something during installation or something... but that seems a bit ridiculous :? Plus most webmasters are not going to change much from a vanilla phpBB in...

How can I properly say "DO NOT SEND MY PASSWORD IN AN EMAIL"

Christ. Is it that hard to see that it is a security risk?

Not to mention there's not even a proper forum here to discuss such things.

Template broken?

In my prosilver theme, the "User Control Panel...etc" links and the "FAQ / SEARCH / MEMBERS...etc" are now on the same side, the latter right below the former. They're supposed to be on the same line on opposite sides right? I justed upgraded to RC7. EDIT: I fixed it, just needed...

Re: Upgrading...suggestions?

No, no mods installed.

So without the config, that's safe to do? I suppose if it doesn't overwrite the database, all the forums/posts wouldn't be affected. Sorry for my momentary stupidity

Upgrading...suggestions?

How would I go about upgrading my phpBB3 RC1 to the current RC4? Do I need to go through RC2 and RC3, and then onto the latest one?

And where would I get my hands on the two prior pacakges?

Thanks!

RC1 > RC3

Can someone give me the .zip auto-updater so I can upgrade to RC2, then to RC3?

Re: Forums Disappeared

No they do not, that's an old fashioned attitude, in phpBB3 Admins can have different permissions to Administrate different things and as such do not need access to all forums :) It's not really old fashioned... I still have that attitude and I've been using MyBB with that feature for over a year. ...

Re: Forums Disappeared

...that's rather doltish. Thanks though, that cleared it up. Its actually a very good feature, do you really want private forums you are creating to be visible until you get round to hiding them, I know I wouldn't for one reason or another :) Admins need access to all forums, that's pretty much ind...

Forums Disappeared

I deleted the default forum...and now my new forums won't show up. I've added them in the Admin Panel, and it says they're there... but... the board index doesn't show them. Re-syncing, F5, nothing's made them show up.
