Re: Is PHPBB Ready For The Big Time....NOT!

....... p.s. asking "regular" joe to delete all files on server and use FTP to upload all of them is way too technical not to mention bugs that might occur due to issues with FTP upload. simple tasks like these are nowadays to complicated to be done by the average user who has even access t...

Re: CkEditor for The 3.2

Actually there is already a 39 page long discussion about this at Area51 http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 26&t=35703. If I remember correctly, one of the problems is, in getting it to understand custom BBCode.

Re: PHPBB3 not really usable due to german rights

My opinion ---- > ...... Next . Its a german law for german sites . Germany has NOTHING to say about sites that are not based in germany . As far as I remember it has nothing to do where the site is based or hosted but if you are aiming for the German market. Someone may correct me on this. Whether...

Re: EU Cookie Directive

that would mean that any site anywhere in the world that people in the EU could access would have to abide by that EU cookie law. I really doubt that is true. robert Well, yes and no. Yes in the sense that, as far as I am reading on different sites, it means also companies outside the EU have to ab...

Re: EU Cookie Directive

..... Also, my understanding is that if your board is hosted/based in the US that even if it is available in the EU, the EU law does not apply. and vice versa. robert I'm am not sure about this one. If I remember right, it doesn't matter where your board is hosted but which people you try to reach....

Re: Abandoning Sub silver

My problem with change is companys do not give people a choice they cock the attitude this is what you are going to use and like it attitude and that is what gets people so uptight if company's truly respected their customers and the people who use their products they would never force someone to u...

Re: Auto Groups

How can they give a time when they do not know? just like the versions of phpbb have always been...."it will be ready when it is ready". not sure why people have a problem with this. robert My guess would be that they expect to see some sort of estimated timeline when it is planed to be released. O...

Re: Abandoning Sub silver

Without wanting to sound offensive, but this topic is flogging a dead horse. The decision to remove subsilver is (as Marshalrusty pointed out) nothing new. This has been at length discussed :? . The majority decided to remove it immediately, the developers, however, decided for a step by step phasin...

Information regarding subsilver2 can be found here: https://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=113&t=43369&start=60 The post the last quotes in the topic from one of the developers: We've already decided to maintain it for 3.1 but remove it from the downloads package. and Subsilver2 isn't going ...

Re: how to make seo friendly urls

Well, I would not rely on what a link says. It could lead me nevertheless simply anywhere. Personally I go for the topic and the discussion around it and would expect that the arguments are backed up by the posted links. Granted the human readable link looks nicer, but I go for contend not the looks...

Re: Extension Requests?

Personally I think this is a bad idea. Mixing "3.0 MODs" and "3.1 Extensions" in one Forum will just create one big confusion. :?

Re: [DEV] Precise Similar Topics

I mean no offense but then this is not clear to me 'SIMILAR_TOPICS' => 'Vergleichbare Themen', 'DISPLAY_SIMILAR_TOPICS' => 'Aktiviere Vergleichbare Theme', As it would be then "Thema" or full translated as "Aktiviere Vergleichbares Thema". Granted I am not a language professor but the word "theme" i...

Re: [DEV] Precise Similar Topics

I think Winstar made another typing error. The plural form should be "Themen" not "Theme". In other words he missed the "n".

@wintstar
Not sure if "Zeige ähnliche Themen an" would not be maybe a "better" translation? Or is that language line really used for activating the extension?

Making difference between MOD / Extension

I am not sure if this is the right please but I found no other appropriate place for it. Anyway, after looking through the new Extension development forum part I noticed a lot of "MOD"-References. As these are clearly not MODifications but Extensions, it might be a good idea not to use the term MOD ...
