Re: New Anti-Bot Strategy: Trap Door

That's fine for just temporarily stemming the tide of spambots, but when you want to make your server hide back into the shadows so that it does not need to volley abusive traffic anymore, that's where you would modify the firewall rules to drop connections from IP sources. That's what this approach...

New Anti-Bot Strategy: Trap Door

I would like to present a new idea I have as an anti-bot strategy. I call it Trap Door. Basically, you set up a web page that you know bots will request, but that users would not request, and you use it as bait to blacklist all IP addresses that access it. I present my PHP code that works for me -- ...

Re: [RC] phpBB Invite 2.0.0

I'm using phpBB Invite 1.3.5-PL1, which works with phpBB 3.0.9 and phpBB 3.0.10. However, when I try to upgrade to Invite version 2.0.0 or 2.0.1, the /install/index.php page shows those errors. I'm still using 1.3.5-PL1, since it works with phpBB 3.0.10. Also, your SVN does not contain version 2.0....

Re: [RC] phpBB Invite 2.0.0

The site is back up. I used the SVN repository in the mean time. I installed an update to phpBB 3.0.10, and then updated this Invite mod to 2.0.0, and I get the following errors when I view the install/index.php page: [phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file [ROOT]/includes/auth.php on line 889: Undefined ...

Re: AutoMOD says mod is installed but actually isn't.

This should probably be moved to the phpBB 3.0.9 discussion, but here goes... I get similar errors when I turn debugging on: [phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/auth.php on line 881: Undefined offset: 189 [phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/auth.php on line 881: Undefined offset: 189...

Re: [RC] phpBB Invite 1.3.5-PL1

I'm an English translator for the Board3Portal mod, and I'd like to offer my suggestions for the english files for 1.3.5-PL1, as a revision of those suggested earlier by someone on the first page of this topic. I've only included translations for the files visible through the UCP or otherwise visibl...

I get this weird error on phpBB 3.0.9 when I try to go to the "install/index.php" file. Re: on 3.0.8 AutoMOD segfaults server since 3.0.9 was releas

I just upgraded to phpBB 3.0.9 and installed AutoMOD 1.0.0.1. When I upload a .zip file, I get logged out of the forum. When I log back in and click on the AutoMOD tab in the ACP, the page cannot be found. This is the error I get when going to the AutoMOD tab when a file is in the store/mods directo...

I'm experiencing really fast load speeds with viewtopic.php and posting right now. I'm using a DSL connection and Safari 5 on an iBook G4 running OS 10.5. Awesome job, people! I intend to get feedback before doing any kind of releasing. I'd like a moderator to move this topic over there if they think it appropriate. Thanks. :)

Re: Quicktime attachments won't play

I've been using a third-party mp3 player to stream uploaded files. The QuickTime plugin just doesn't work for me with .mp4 and other audio media files. I lost track if there was any improvement with the 3.0.7-PL1 update.

Embedding .mov and .mpg movies works.
