Re: Wrong url in update documentation?

As I recall, it didn't ask for database info but did ask for path to phpBB and FTP host.

Wrong url in update documentation?

On the documentation page for installs and updates of phpBB 3.2: https://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=install&version=3.2#update_auto there is a section on Updating from stable releases of phpBB 3.2.x Within this, the final instructions in the paragraph titled 4.iv. Automatic update pack...

Re: Update puzzle

Thanks for your input. That's correct, I did not restore the DB using the phpBB feature (it's too large), nor phpMyAdmin (which no doubt I should have). I used a host feature which in fact did nothing, and left the successfully updated 3.2.5 database in place. The board's still up and running fine (...

Re: Update puzzle

Hi - Opening the DB backup in notepad I see: ('version','3.2.3',0). From what I can make out, although my host control panel lets me highlight and click 'Restore' on the database backup - and then says, 'Database restored' nothing actually happens. So I was running files for version 3.2.3 with an up...

Update puzzle

Hi I updated my forum this morning from version 3.2.3 to 3.2.5. Everything seemed to go well until I removed the install folder and navigated to a blank page (HTTP ERROR 500). After failing to diagnose the problem I ended up deleting all files and folders except /ext, /files, /images, my custom styl...

Re: Topic as link

Exploring further I see it's possible to do what I need without an extension, by creating subforums as links.

Topic as link

A revival of this old 3.0 Mod Topic as Link which makes it possible to place direct links into a Category would be most welcome.

Re: Remove www from outgoing emails

Thanks for your reply.

So now I have:

Force server URL settings: Yes
Server protocol: https://
Domain name: mywebsite.com (i.e. no www.)

But this seems to cause an authentification error: Secure Connection Failed The connection to mywebsite.com:80 was interrupted while the page was loading.

Thanks - I have:

Force server URL settings: No
Server protocol: https://
Domain name: mywebsite.com (i.e. no www.)

I'm not sure where the http://www. is coming from.

Remove www from outgoing emails

I wonder if anyone can tell me where to change the return address of board generated emails. To be precise, the email the board sends to a user (who has received a PM) contains a link back to the PM. It takes the form: http://www.mywebsite.com/phpBB/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=view&p=1234 My site is https and...

Re: 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 update timeout

During the update of my forum, the same mistake appeared. I will restore a copy of the forum and database. In this line $dbms = 'phpbb\\db\\driver\\mysql'; I have to enter mysqli? I made this change and the update of the forum was successful. Just in case, I turned off all extensions and I set the ...

Re: 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 update timeout

OK - thanks again warmweer.

I don't have a personal webserver, so looks like I'll have to install one and learn how to use it. I can see how it could prevent this kind of pickle.
I'm not sure if it will help at this stage though. :(
