Just downloaded enhanced_003.zip to use on my fresh 2.0.21 installation. Can't find the following in includes/usercp_register.php:

Code: Select all

#
#----[ FIND ]---------------------
#
			$code .= $confirm_chars[mt_rand(0, $max_chars)];
		}
Thanks for the mod.

Interesting idea, but as someone who browses the web with image animation off by default, I don't like it. The necessary annoyance of static CAPTCHAs is sufficient without having to enable animation, reload the page, and redisable animation every time.

It will work the way you want it. The first sentence of the notes you quoted is misleading.

I'm having no problems with this mod and 2.0.18.

This mod appears to work with 2.0.18, although it did mysteriously move several newer-than-specified posts to the target forum (without appearing in its index). Happened when moving from the two larger forums where processing time was >20 secs or so. It doesn't appear to exclude sticky posts, so tha...

Love the mod, but the profile.php change in 1.0.7 has me a bit worried. Is it safe to send QUERY_STRING straight to the redirect function?

Template caching and admin panel oddity after updating

I just updated my forum to from 2.0.13 to 2.0.14 using the code changes mod (definitely the least frustrating way to update a modded forum) and I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced the following problem, which I think is unrelated to the mod. When logging into the administration panel imm...

does this cause too much load on the server? Also, if topics are already locked, will it recheck them? It seems to be resource-intensive on large forums. While fiddling with it, I noticed the script was triggered when I (or any member?) first visit the forum after auto_lock_next has come and gone, ...

Re: where the problems are

Please note that the particular vulnerability being exploited in this attack is, technically, a PHP issue - an interreaction between two functions that do not work quite as the PHPBB developers envisioned them. The code that fails makes sense... it just doesn't work. I've been reading this thread t...

For the benefit of anyone who cares, I managed to do my "clean" reinstall by deleting tables from the database that were not in the list contained here: http://www.phpbbsupport.co.uk/ntopic1793.php Then I backed up the database again, reinstalled phpBB, used phpMyAdmin to delete the above tables fro...

Unfortunately, that depends on me being intimately familiar with the database structure, in order to know what to delete and what not to delete. The mods themselves may have provided some clues, except that I don't remember even half of those that had been installed then removed or not reinstalled o...

Performing a fully clean reinstall

I decided to do a nice fresh reinstall of my forum today, completely wiping the forum directory to eliminate the mods and all the other junk that's accumulated over the years. Unfortunately, after reinstallation it became apparent that I'd overlooked something: a lot of the junk seems to be in the d...

The lack of a topic-only search is undoubtedly my number one frustration with phpBB-based boards. On large boards it makes searching for topics on common issues particularly frustrating. You will often end up with some relevant results obscured by many irrelevant ones where somoene has simply used s...

I just upgraded my board from 2.03 > 2.04 and ran into the same problem (able to find the cause and fix it thanks to this thread). I'm thinking of removing the template caching thing now anyway. Despite it being "unsupported", I had confidence in it previously because of the names on it and the note...

Running update_to_202.php for 2.0.1 > 2.0.2 upgrade

Unless I'm missing something, the documentation doesn't suggest running update_to_202.php after uploading changed files or patching. It gives the impression that one only runs that script if updating from a release candidate. My board's version number was left as 2.0.1 until I searched here and figu...

Daz,

Thanks for releasing this theme! When I upgraded to phpBB 2.x.x a few weeks ago I couldn't find a theme that was similar to 1.4.4, which annoyed some forum users. This should make them happy.
