Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

To be honest, I've never been happy with Snitz, but part of that could be that I wasn't the forum admin and didn't have control over the format of the boards. I've always wanted polls and was never able to get those with Snitz and I wasn't able to to customize Snitz to fit in with the current websit...

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

The four boards in question (in fact all the boards in question except for the new public forum) came over from Snitz. I then went one by one through the forums and changed the permissions on each. Most of the forums I changed to "Private (Hidden)" which when I checked the advanced permissions, seem...

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

Okay, so I think I figured it out. I had four forums that I didn't want anyone to have access to except for the admin (me). So I set their priviliges to Moderator (Hidden), but when I went to advanced mode, as many of you stated here, the Read privileges were set to All!!! I've since fixed the four ...

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

Daine7th, if you want to experiment, try to log in as a user who doesn't have permission to read a given forum and then try to actually read a topic in a forum you do not see on the index. Did that and the Test user doesn't have access to topics that he shouldn't....he gets "The topic or post you r...

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

Daine7th, have you actually tried to create a test user, put him in one of the groups that have limited access and experimented yourself to see if (a) he can read a post in an area he does not have read permission to and (b) search shows up any posts in forums he does not have read permission to? Y...

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

Hmmm, I have all the forum permissions set to "Private (Hidden)". I checked the advanced mode of that and everything is set to Private except Announce which is set to Mod.

Re: Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

I used the plain vanilla board and that's not what I'm seeing. I have group permissions set up and people assigned to these groups. So general members should only have access to approx 10 forums, but they are able to search into officer forums which they shouldn't be able to. So maybe I'm doing my p...

Re: "Find all posts" are viewable by everyone....can this be cha

Well the quick fix was to go into my template and just remove the link to "Find all posts by <member>". Being that I'm not a hacker, I don't know if there's any "back door" to get at that same information. I did do a Search and put in a member name and tried to find all posts that way and didn't get...

Searching into forums when user doesn't have permissions

I was just informed that if a name is selected from the Memberlist and then the person clicks on "Find all posts by <member>", they can see the first few lines by that member which I don't want. Is there a way to disable this? I need to know fast....many of our forums are private and I don't even wa...

Blinking cursor color....

Okay, I think I'm missing something basic, but my input fields are kind of a medium blue and my blinking cursor in the input field is a grey and almost impossible to see. How do I change the color of the blinking cursor to black or something darker?

Thanks!

Re: Converter Release: Snitz Forums to PHPBB and PHPNuke

Well the converter seemed to go through everything all fine and dandy, but I'm missing posts here and there. I can see them in the snitz mysql database, but they aren't making it to the phpbb database...any idea what might be going on? Thanks, Daine P.S. Upon further review, it would appear that onl...
