Re: [BETA] Wiki integration for Mediawiki 1.9.x and higher

To be honest it doesn't really seem to be to do with my MOD, did you try logging in before you installed the mod?

Re: [BETA] Wiki integration for Mediawiki 1.9.x and higher

Try using the same database or setting wgphpbb_UseExtDatabase to true.

Re: Accessing php variables from outside phpBB instances

oh ok thank you! I sort of dived in the deep end here, that makes a lot of sense now!

Thanks a lot for your help, I appreciate it.

Re: [BETA] Wiki integration for Mediawiki 1.9.x and higher

What is the name of your phpbb tables? In your mySQL database you should have a list oh phpbb tables as well as wiki tables. The phpbb tables should look something like phpbb_NAME, whereas the wiki tables should look like wiki_NAME. The problem is most likely that the tables created when you install...

Re: [BETA] Wiki integration for Mediawiki 1.9.x and higher

ok, I haven't assumed anything about the template you are using, so I didn't create links. You will need to create a link to yourforum.com/wiki. You would probably do this in your templates/yourtemplate/overall_header.tpl file, which you can basically think of as a html file for the buttons at the t...

Re: Accessing php variables from outside phpBB instances

sorry I meant to write page_header.php not page_header_custom. Yes the variable is created the way you described, it's created in page_header.php like all the others, and it works because I have it functioning at http://bottleweb.org/forum.php , the /wiki/{IMAGE_PRIVMSG} link is done from a file cal...

Re: Accessing php variables from outside phpBB instances

Yes I created the variable in page_header.php, then I call it from a php file called /wiki/index.php. In this file I have also put in: define('IN_PHPBB', true); $phpbb_root_path = '../'; include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc'); include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.'.$phpEx); $userdata = session_pa...

Re: Pulling the Plug - Why we are dropping phpBB

phpBB is by the far the most customizable and user friendly product I've tested. Others like vb might be easier out of the box to install, but phpBB makes it as easy as is humanly possible to make any modification you want. Granted, it takes some programming skill, but keep in mind that this is an o...

Re: Accessing php variables from outside phpBB instances

Sorry I should have told you this before. In page_header.php I have modified the "check for messages" part of the code to this: // // Obtain number of new private messages // if user is logged in // $privmsg_normal = '/templates/Appalachia/images/custom_buttons/PM_normal.jpg'; $privmsg_normal_hover ...

Re: Accessing php variables from outside phpBB instances

it's a variable I created in page_header.php, it doesn't pick it up at all as if it didn't load the include files. if I check the url that the image points to it looks something like "http://bottleweb.org/wiki/{IMAGE_PRIVMSG}", i.e. it didn't load the variable. Am I missing something? (sorry about t...

Re: [BETA] Wiki integration for Mediawiki 1.9.x and higher

Good luck! It's quite easy to install i'm sure you won't have any problems. Although I found the coding to be a lot more difficult to understand than phpBB. I didn't really appreciate the clean and simple programming style (and comments) of phpBB until I tried modifying mediawiki. If you use my mod ...

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

[spam removed - karlsemple] Seems kind of over kill not to allow people to share other sites, it's certainly not spamming when someone is providing a helpful link. The Board-Wide forum rules give an example of what is spam as "offering hosting services (charged and free), installation services, sol...

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

I was thinking that it wouldn't be hard to give a bot a list of answers, for example if the question contained the word 'grass', the answer would most likely be green. Or if the question contained 'sky' the answer is most likely 'blue'. I imagine writing a bot to solve questions like "two plus three...
