Re: Copying a board

Well according to what you've posted here, your database is at the lastest level, and the original board had no mods installed, so everything should just work. I have no idea why you seem to be having permissions problems with your forums. Lets hope someone from the support team has some idea.

Re: PMs 'disappearing'

I had a friend who used to Reply to a PM, and who after clicking the Submit button kept forgetting that the PM she had just sent was the one she got taken into (not the one she was replying to). So she'd click the delete button intending to delete the one she has replied to, and instead delete her o...

Re: Copying a board

No, but I suspect you need someone from the support team to advise you about running the support toolkit against your restored database. It would help if you could find out the version information from the database config table. AND if you could ask the original owner if he had any mods installed, a...

Re: The service is unavailable. (host working/site not)

You're on a Linux host.

I would go back to the hosting company and ask them how come the URI is displaying the default CentOS apache page... http://ubermpower.co.uk That's all that is being served by the site you linked to.

Re: Copying a board

Search probably won't work until you rebuild the search index.

So have you tried changing the permissions to something else and then changing them back ?

Was the board you came from the same version as the one you've installed ?
Did the board you came from have any mods installed ? If so what ?

Re: Copying a board

Seems this is the case after all, awesome it moved over, woo! Odd that I was told I would need to change my config file? That was apparently, definitely not the case... >.> All that initial trouble for nothing Not really... it depends upon how you read 'copying'. If you read it to mean copying the ...

Re: Copying a board

It shouldn't.

Any chance it's your browser cache ? Try holding the CTRL key and pressing F5 to force your browser to fetch new copies of everything from the server.

Can you give us some URIs to your board so we can see the problem ?

Re: What is the browse button for in the topics table?

That page you're looking at allows you to insert an entry into the table you're in.

Because the field type is set to blob you have the option to insert a blob entry from a file into it. If you don't know what a blob entry is you can read about it here.

Re: Copying a board

Purging the cache is available in the admin control panel index page, it's a button. OR you can manually delete all of the files in the cache directory of your new board EXCEPT index.htm and .htaccess. Truncating the sessions and sessions_keys tables can be done via phpMyAdmin. Go into the database,...

Re: Copying a board

Sorry, I've now read through this a bit more (since you tried from my first post) and I'm certain you've gone off track completely. You should have no need to alter the config.php file unless you're trying to do way more complicated stuff than just copy a board... back to the beginning... 1) Get a b...

The Cookie domain seems correct? So I guess I should change the Cookie name instead?
It's the domain name with a . on the front of it.

So if your domain name is mydomainname.com, your cookie domain would be set to .mydomainname.com

OK ?

Re: Copying a board

It's really no where near as difficult as you're making it. So install your new board, then import the backup you have from the old database (using the admin control panel). Once the restore is complete navigate to the General tab, and from the list on the left hand side select Cookie Settings and c...

Re: Setting up a new board/changing URLs

No it's not, because she'll go off and rename her board directories and not switch the config.php files. She doesn't know that both boards will then not work because the script_path is set wrong in the config table for both boards. If we're lucky she'll just rename the directories back to their orig...

Re: Setting up a new board/changing URLs

Yes I've noticed how the support team knows best around here, and will direct people asking questions to the solution that the support team has decided is what the user should have, it's why I stopped bothering to come here and answer questions. BTW, considering you've been doing this so long... you...
