Re: Bots Install Script

You know on the "Manage bots" page(, when you click the "Spiders/Robots" link), how you can scroll down the list and there's a button that says "Add bot"? Well, this is just a script that Adds about 100 currently known robots/webcrawlers to that list. So really, it just...

Re: Bots Install Script

Hi, I am new to PHP; and a new phpBB forum owner. I have and regularly use phpBB powered boards. Just by glancing at the SQL code - I could see the passwords are set to ' '. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a security concern? Are BOTS a read only, or do they have post rights? If these 100+ ...

Tim, at least one of those bots are listed twice in the array.

Re: Discuss: MOD Author's Convention, 30 August 2008

I'll likely poke my nose in and lurk for a bit while doing other things around the home. ;)
That is if Pidgin doesn't keep sinking my battleship and logging out.

Now to think of any questions.. Hmm.. :?:

Re: Re install of back up

And just in case, could you please take a look in the directory: ./store/, and tell us what you see? That could be useful if you had made any backups via the ACP.

Re: Newbie problem with extra pages

:) I suppose that it may be your link in overall_header.html. Did you assign the link with append_sid ? If not, and you're having trouble with cookies (or they aren't enabled in your browser), then that could do it. You could try adding that link around line 3482 of ./includes/functions.php 'U_LINKS...

Re: Changing the Overall_header file

Also, it might be helpful (if you are making more than the occasional and minor change) to tick the "Recompile stale style components" box in ACP > General > Load settings, whilst editing; so as to prevent having to jump back and forth to clear the cache every time.

Re: how to make style/theme

Well, I'm no style guru, but how much css/html do you know? It's not really that hard, I guess. There's a tutorial or two here and here. You should find some useful stuff there, and people too.

Re: What did phpbb1 look like

:D Very interesting.. I never knew what the original phpbb.com looked like. I found out about phpbb through the footer link of a joke site and started out in the early summer of 05'. Always wanted to know though, and tried running a legacy copy awhile ago.. Darn php3 and sql errors stopped that quic...

custom modifications to proSilver which phpbb.com uses here are actually copyrighted or not They are. The copyright refers mainly to the workings of the actual forum itself. For example taking the PHP files that make up phpBB, renaming them and then "producing" the forum as your own. You'...

Re: Unsure,

Hmm, ok. Because I took and modified forabg.gif, and sliced a 1 pixel high cross of the white frame to align centered and repeat vertically in the background, to achieve all but the 'cornerd-box' part of the look. But figured all the codings and css involved myself. I don't mind at all giving credit...

Re: Unsure,

Thank you for your replies, though I'm still not clear on this. Could you re-explain?.. I'm aware of the associated license, but that pertains to the actual phpBB software package, and what I don't know are what custom modifications to proSilver which phpbb.com uses here are actually copyrighted or ...

Re: Why do you like phpBB2/3?

One thing that I don't understand is the warning systeem. You can warn someone....and that's it. Don't get me wrong, they at least thought of this feature but to me, really is useless because if you warn someone...in the end it does nothing. You can warn someone 5 times, but there's no option to le...
