Re: change domain to sub domain

It's all personal preference. Notepad++ definitely gets the job done.

However, you won't be editing any of the files directly during the move, just to point that out.

Re: change domain to sub domain

It is quite a simple process to achieve what you are proposing. I'll go with the example that you are putting your forum under /forum from now on. Basically, you want to copy all of the phpBB files you have from the main directory to this new /forum directory. Ensure that you download all of the fil...

Re: Noob question

Your directory structure (in the forum root) would be under /styles/prosilver/ and then you'll see the directories I was referring to.

You may have installed a different style to prosilver though.

Re: Noob question

You can upload it to your server under any directory. I'd recommend putting it in the images directory of the styles folder (depending on which style you have), and then you edit the CSS (colours.css I edit personally) like you would do for any web-page. For example, here is the default: html, body ...

Re: Mass mailing kills my server

I'm assuming you're on a shared server?

You will have to talk to your current host about what server resources you can use without them taking your board offline for abuse of resources.

This isn't a problem that can be attributed to the phpBB software.

Re: db Size

This is completely normal. phpBB [3] boards are known to be exceptionally large on the database side of things. Its lucky that yo haven't compiled a search database yet as that would bump it up another 10 megabytes or so. Unfortunately, there is not a lot you can do to aid in getting the database to...

Re: Invisible/misplaced Board Index button in topics!!

Have there been any modifications done to the board or the theme? "Board Index" doesn't appear in a button like format as you have shown with the screenshot on either style.

Re: Extra check registration

You can add a custom field that must be filled out during the registration process and then go from there. Obviously, this would have to be checked over by you though to see that it matches the criteria. Are you happy to do that one?

Re: FH phoenix forum problem

My advice would be to replace your /includes folder with a completely fresh copy from phpBB.com.

Re: Extra check registration

You could set the forum so that you have to approve all of the registrations/admin approval.

Re: new button

To center your ads? Just enclose them in <center> tags </center>. You'll also want to add a break line after the advertisement in the footer; its set on the same line as the copyright of the phpBB boards.

Re: Cannot access my forum after PHP 5.3 upgrade

You'll want to edit the user "gordong" ideally and change the password of the user. You'll also want to ensure that "gordong" has access and is a user of the database which stores all of the phpBB data. This can be done easily using your control panel. I can't determine exactly what administration s...

Re: Adding Text-Based Navbar?

I would advise against adding it directly next to the board index area as it could create problems with the breadcrumbs (depending on the length of the board names and topics). Perhaps another divider and then the main navigation? Just a suggestion. However, if you're absolutely sure, then what you ...
