Re: Small preg replace help please

if that is all you need then use str_replace, it's a much more efficient way for flat string replace function change_text($message){ return str_replace('findthis93748', 'wat ever u want', $message); } function change_text($message) { $test=$message; $test_pat="findthis93748"; $pattern="(".$test_pat....

Re: $config

i don't know if there a mechanism to do this dynamic updating in phpbb, but if you want to do it manually and u have mysql v5+ you can try something like this UPDATE your_config_table SET config_value = (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM your_news_table) WHERE config_name = 'num_news' do this every time you add/...

Re: Dynamic data from another site..

Instead of reading the info from an xml, why don't you create a script to generate an image from that xml and display the dynamic image on you forum :?:

Code: Select all

// In you template
<img href="mylovely_banner.php" />

Code: Select all

// Your mylovely_banner.php
<?php
read xml;
generate image;
?>

Re: How to force phpbb3 to use specified $sid ?

I removed this line, because it's redundant $user->session_id = request_var('sid', ''); It is not redundant if you do not have a good cookie. In that case it has to be pulled from the URL. Oh I see.... You had that line in your own code. Yeah. You dont want it in your own code, because the phpbb se...

I use flash to interact with phpbb3, but unfortunately flash takes IE's cookie regardless of which browser i'm browsing from :( so my question is: Can I force phpbb to use $_GET['sid'] to restore my session without consider the value from $_COOKIE? I tried to unset $_COOKIE variable (because of the ...

Re: Unexpected uft8_normalize_nfc result

Did the data come from request_var? And did you set the multibyte parameter to true for request var? From your question, I taken that I need to convert the string to multibyte before pass it through the normalize function? The $filename is from $_GET but it's base64encoding so i can't really use re...

I'm not sure if this is the proper way of doing it but here is what I did, may be it will be helpful :D Keep your stuff off the main forum directory(keep it in the parent dir or any where above the tree), so you don't have to worry about accidentally overwrite or erase and no need to swap folders wh...
