Re: Autoprune settings

The two issues I cannot find answers for are: 1: Do these work with an OR or an AND setting? In other words, say the first was set to 10 days and the second to 20 would it remove it only remove topics that have been neither posted to in 20 days nor viewed in 10 days, or would it remove topics that ...

Re: Users are allowed to moderate their own topics

It seems that this setting interferes with own topic moderation and prevents users from editing their messages after this timeout in self-moderated topic. You are right. I have modified the code at another place: # #-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------ # posting.php # #-----[ FIN...

Re: Users are allowed to moderate their own topics

On my board users are permitted to edit their own message only for a certain period of time after it was posted. But in some forums I gave them permission to moderate their own topics. It seems that this setting interferes with own topic moderation and prevents users from editing their messages aft...

Re: How to delete all local permissions from user?

If you haven't modified the default board roles you could use them to quickly reset any individual user forum permissions but you would still have to do it user by user. How many users are you talking about? I have only few users and a lot of boards. And I have not modified the board roles, I think...

How to delete all local permissions from user?

Hi, I have some users that have a lot of local permissions throughout different boards. I would like to reset these users to the permissions they have according to the group they belong to. Is there any way to do it at once without going through each board and user combination and uncheck the local ...

Re: Users are allowed to moderate their own topics

Sorry, was off for some days. @Jarode I am not sure how you can reinstall the permission. I have not found any function that would delete it. Guess that you should clean the permissions from database but be sure that no user or group uses the permission at the time. @tonia Moving topics is something...

Re: Users are allowed to moderate their own topics

Wow! BTW it seems that addpermission.php file contents is incomplete. It is complete. If you miss ?> at the end, you do not need it :) This is optional in PHP and, if included, can cause problems with trailing whitespaces in files The closing tag of a PHP block at the end of a file is optional http...

It works as group's forum permission. You can set the permission for the group(s) on the chosen forum.

Re: Users are allowed to moderate their own topics

I have created a quick mod that works for me. This mod allows the topic starter to edit and delete all posts in the own topics. This permission is local and can be assigned to any user in combination with any forum. I appreciate any feedback, if somebody would give it a try. ########################...

How to write an own mod?

Hi, I am looking for introduction on how to write an own phpbb mod. I have read some docs here, however I was not able to find and step-by-step tutorial. What I mean is NOT coding rules or "how to install a mod" or "how to get mod approved" or general PHP tutorial or what ModX is in general. I need ...

Re: Huge performance issue - large forum

If your MySQL supports it, try switching to the "Fulltext mysql" search backend. I have tried to change the method as suggested above. But immediately after the index creation starts I have the DB error "too many connections". I have enough max_connections for running board, it is never exceeded bu...

Re: Huge performance issue - large forum

That query is part of the fulltext native search backend. That backend is not intended for big boards. Sphinx might be a better option, but is non-trivial to set up: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=796875&start=0 Thank you. I will give sphinx a try as I have already used it with...

Re: Huge performance issue - large forum

That code isn't from the original phpbb3. Maybe your forum was hacked! It is not true. This code originates from includes/search/fulltext_native.php about line 1220: $sql = 'SELECT w.word_id, w.word_text, m.title_match FROM ' . SEARCH_WORDMATCH_TABLE . ' m, ' . SEARCH_WORDLIST_TABLE . ' w WHERE ' ....

Re: Huge performance issue - large forum

Anybody? There is another query that slows down the server: Count: 965 Time=22.93s (22126s) Lock=0.05s (52s) Rows=10000.0 (9650000), xxx@localhost SELECT * FROM `phpbb_search_wordmatch` LIMIT N,N I would appreciate any hint or help as my server restarts every hour due to heavy MySQL load. Thank you!
