Re: Deleted spam posts still showing up in active topics

Im guessing youre the Admin? If youre seeing them then you didnt delete them and youre seeing the aftermath that no one else can see who is not also an Admin. In other words, you only deleted the reference to them, but they still show to an Admin, like if a Mod deleted it, the Admins can still see t...

Re: Duplicate topics or posts

Ive seen what you are talking about, its usually on the users end with a browser problem. Sometimes the browser freezes and ends up sending two posts, or the user gets a failed message and submits it again not knowing the first post transmitted fine. Its also happened to me over the years, weird stu...

Re: RSS feeds

If i may add to this and not sound too snarky, its clear you dont understand the features of phpbb and how they work. Its also obvious that, either English is not your first language, or you failed at grasping its most basic concepts along with how grammar ties in. Now that ive said that, it sounds ...

Please do NOT post a public link to the whole db in this topic. :!:
Normally i would agree, but in this case, there is nothing to glean from it. Thanks for just deleting it...

Lumpy, forgot to say i PM'd you the link.

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

After a few hours i gave up and found an text editor that would handle it. It appears to be 3 different db's in one. I found the VB stuff, some phpbb below that and then a bunch of gibberish and then at the bottom, references to a store. It seems maybe the store side of the domain used the same db, ...

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

That is not the backup of a phpBB database. No kidding, i said it was an sql dump. The host had to do it cause the domain account was shut off, so i couldnt access and do a proper backup. Im guessing there is no way to convert it? OK, so post the LAST 100 lines of the backup. And you may be right, ...

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

show us the first 100 or so lines of your database backup file. robert Im seeing references to vBulletin and i had converted it to phpbb almost 3 years before this dump was made, is that a possible issue? This file is huge, Notepad++ wont even open it and this took almost 5 mins to highlight and th...

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

Your table prefix can be blank, but what is it in your backup? And don't open backups (or .php files) with Notepad. Use Notepad++ (free, Google). When you say you tried and failed to edit "mysql" to "mysqli", do you mean you were unable to edit the file, or something else? And if something else, wh...

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

I was able to open both backups in Notepad (briefly cause the size almost crashed my PC) and i noticed that while the data wasnt formatted the same, it looked similar. I found a phpbb backup that was 4 months old, but get a white screen when restoring through the ACP. Is there any way to convert the...

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

Continued futzing around, i got 3.0.12 installed, however the backups werent made with phpbb, but rather pulled from the db on the old server, so they wont restore in phpbb.

When i compare them to the tables created by phpbb3, they dont match at all, so im kind of at a loss, still.

Is it possible to change the default style in the db manually? Im pretty much convinced thats the issue at this point.

Re: Quick question for 3.0.12 to 3.2.x

edit the blank config.php file to point to the 3.0 database you just created. Can you be a little more specific? Ive tried a myriad of configurations and have no idea what to put in there and i just keep getting the timeout settings error and i even increased them in php.ini and did the mysqli and ...

Re: Members where to find them?

Using the "people use a cell phone to access my site" argument is pretty weak, especially when phone browsers have an option to emulate being on a desktop browser. I think 3.2.2 renders as a mobile quite nicely and i lose no content. If that doesnt work, tilt it sideways and it renders the full site...

Re: manual 3.1.9 to 3.2.2 db update timeout

It's amazing how one little i can cause so much trouble. Put the i in, started the database update over again, and all seems well so far. Finished the update and now poking around at changes. Forum looks a little different, header image is gone, but that will all be worked out. :) Thanks for the he...
