Re: Username (Nickname) vs. Real Name

No problem, however, I would not remove the username, simply because phpBB is still using it to allow other users to send PM's to the correct user...

If you wish to do that, you would need to make sure that your members have a way to figure out who is who.

Re: outside use of phpBB captcha system.

If you are trying to use it to validate an outside form, why not just use any of the captchas available online? I personally hate the phpBB default one and switched it with reCaptcha. I have also used reCaptcha for various other forms and sites I have needed to protect from spam bots (Works really w...

Re: Username (Nickname) vs. Real Name

Well close... but my directions towards that part were not so clear... <!-- IF postrow.POSTER_AVATAR --> Basically that is as close to plain english as phpBB gets... "IF Avatar" or in other words, if the user has an avatar... so while placing the code there would work (but may not look very good) th...

Re: Username (Nickname) vs. Real Name

Depends on where you need to import the information to.... For example, to replace the username with their real name you would have to first collect the two fields and pass it on to viewtopic_body.html... This is untested, but you could do something like this... In viewtopic.php Find: $postrow = arr...

Re: Is embedding HTML really as bad as I think it is?

Yes, I have heard... I stay away from both Myspace and Facebook because of that... It's sad that there is no way to limit the variables that reach or leave the embedded object.... At least none that I can see... I think I'm just going to code the most popular objects into my mod and allow users to i...

Re: Username (Nickname) vs. Real Name

While I have always been "old-school" and hated going into the new "social networking" feel (Using Real Names) I can try to help you guys out... First off... why not go straight to the database instead of using a custom field? Add two fields for First and Last name... like that every time the user_i...

Is embedding HTML really as bad as I think it is?

I am writing my own customized profile mod that I plan on sharing with the PHPBB community once completed. Looking at sites like MySpace, Facebook, etc.. I have to ask myself... how do they do it? I am scared to allow users to embed their own HTML code. Reason being that I know that there are many t...

Redirection from login form on diferent site does not work.

Hello peeps, Has there been a change to the ucp.php file recently? I used to be able to use this script to log me in from my "main" page through the forum and redirected back to the same page. <form method="post" action="http://forums.DOMAIN.com/ucp.php" name="login"> <table cellpadding="0" cellspac...

Re: Profile details changed????

I really find this to be a con. Like I said, I can see why it can be helpful, but I have never been to a forum where I change my email address and my account gets deactivated.... this is ridiculous... I would much rather it leave the account active and notify the user.... Am I the only one bothered ...

Re: Profile details changed????

that is such a hassle.... is there any workaround for that? I mean, I can see why its nice to do, but cant it be done without deactivating the user? if they change their email to an incorrect one, how would they fix it? That creates an issue that would end up with the user leaving the site or regist...

Profile details changed????

I have a user that I alerted had an email address that was bouncing back. They tried to change their email and got logged out and went inactive with "Profile details changed". WTF? It only took me a second to fix this, but can someone please explain this to me? Was there supposed to be an email aler...

Re: Where is the template for download/file.php?

I just need to know how the overall_header is being called. The glitch is that my header has a large banner in which it is 875x165 pixels. In the page where file.php displays that the file does not exist, the banner appears, however the viewing area is 875x10.

Re: Where is the template for download/file.php?

If you go to the user control panel, and look at the "manage attachments" link, u see a list of all the attachments the user has made. however, if the file you try to look at is not located in the files/ folder, it reports The selected attachment does not exist anymore. The file ./../files/2_0700811...

Where is the template for download/file.php?

It seems that my theme has some weird glitch parsing that page. My header is all messed up. I cant seem to find it on styles/{stylename}/templates/ Any help? P.S. I realize that it should not have a header if the file is still available, Im trying to fix it should it show up with "file does not exist"
