Re: The extension jpg is not allowed.

Damn right it doesn't make any sense! I just about lost my mind trying to figure this problem out. Thank God for Google!

Re: [Split] Updating to 3.0.5

While the upgrade appeared to have gone well, actually it was no longer possible to post or register following the upgrade. Users attempting to register would get this message: "General Error SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] Field 'user_from' doesn't have a default value [1364] An SQL error occurred while fetch...

Re: [Split] Updating to 3.0.5

English (US) is the default language. I've just uploaded the full install, put the languages and config.php back, and tried to run the database update, and I'm still getting the same error. Edit: After some screwing around, I was able to get a different error message: "Your MySQL database schema for...

[Split] Updating to 3.0.5

While trying to using automatic update from 3.0.4 to 3.0.5, I'm getting: Notice: Undefined index: MYSQL_SCHEMA_UPDATE_REQUIRED in /[mysite]/forum/install/database_update.php on line 248 I'm using one mod: Anti Bot Question 1.1.0. I know it's up to v1.2.0 now. Would upgrading help, or should I get ri...

Re: Missing smilies

I just followed the instructions. I'm sure that anyone who does the same will be in the same position. Anyway, I've analyzed the differences between smilies in phpBB2 and phpBB3. Six of the smilies have changed (icon_e_biggrin.gif, icon_e_smile.gif, icon_e_surprised.gif, icon_e_confused.gif, icon_e_...

Re: Missing smilies

Which is clearly a problem if it prevents the most basic smilies from being used.

Re: Missing smilies

Right you are! The phpBB3 versions of those files are icon_e_biggrin.gif, icon_e_smile.gif, icon_e_surprised.gif, icon_e_confused.gif, icon_e_wink.gif, respectively. So the problem is that the converter failed to update those 5 smilies. Unfortunately, they're pretty much the most important ones! My ...

Missing smilies

It seems that the smilies folder included with phpBB 3.0 is missing a few files. When creating posts, the "Smilies" section didn't have icons for the following emoticons: :D, :), :o, :?, It turns out that the forum was looking for files called icon_biggrin.gif, icon_smile.gif, icon_surprised....

Re: post count doesnt increase

Oh, thank goodness. Thank you for linking to that! Still, I have to take issue with "You have accidentally had a forum permission set to not count the posts in the forum as such users have lots of posts missing from their post counts." I didn't accidentally set it to not count the posts, phpBB3 did ...

Re: post count doesnt increase

It is not an oversight, it is by design, no permissions are given by default with the exception of the founder ACP access. Everything else has to be given/assigned. Is there any reason why any forum administrator wouldn't want Increment Post Count to be Yes? I'm sure there's someone who wouldn't, b...

Re: post count doesnt increase

Okay, I had a really hard time following those instructions. Here it is, step by step. ACP > Forums > click the Edit icon on the forum you want to manage > Groups' forum permissions > Look up user group: Registered Users > Select a forum > Advanced Permissions > Misc > Increment Post Counter > Yes. ...

Re: [BETA] Unique Registration Hash

I was using this mod in combination with an anti-bot question when I was using phpBB2, and between the two of them I was getting almost 0 spam bot registrations. Since switching to phpBB3, I'm using only an anti-bot question and I'm getting at least 6 spam bot registrations per day. Are there any pl...

Re: Change beginning user_id

I agree with you, but figuring out how to do stuff like this is how I learn how to get more out of phpbb. I haven't modified my board very much, but I'm gaining an understanding of how the scripts work and where they store my data. Hacking around and seeing if you can do something like change everyo...

Re: Change beginning user_id

It's true that changing a user_id requires a lot of other tables to be updated, but I'm pretty sure that I found them all. If you ever need to change someone's user_id, run this set of SQL instructions. UPDATE phpbb_posts SET poster_id='new' WHERE poster_id='old'; UPDATE phpbb_privmsgs SET privmsgs_...
