You can edit the .yaml file and simply purge the cache.
Agreed - but in development environment you do not need to purge the cache, it does it for you.

if you're going to change config file (during extension development for example), you have to disable the extension, then apply changes, then enable extension.
Unless you are working in Development environment.

Re: event folder

I believe in phpBB 3.0 admins would directly update the stylesheets in the ACP. So in some sense, some functionality has been lost. And when they did that and cleared the cache they lost the changes which is why it was removed. Many of them have some basic skills like being able to edit a styleshee...

Re: 403 error when accessing the forum

This is the second or third similar problem in the last few days - not sure if they are connected (same host?) The forum suddenly started to show the main page as text+links Things do not "suddenly happen" - somebody, somewhere has changed something. If you have not changed anything then that only l...

Re: Hello. Looking for an extension

From what you have asked for there that is all possible within the core of phpBB. If you set up your board to use the Newly Registered user group with a count of one and you set the permissions for that group so that they can only post in the "Introductions" forum then once they have made that post,...

Re: New user trying to install styles

I unzipped a style file into the \styles directory. I would add that unzipping on the server can create problems in that in some cases the directory structure is not always maintained resulting in the files not being where they are expected to be. To be safe you should always unzip on your local ma...

Re: event folder

Just to add my thoughts. It makes little difference as to whether it is done as an extension or as an "event folder" you still have to create the appropriate .html file. The only additional work required for an extension is that you also have to have a composer.json file. The big advantage of having...

Re: Cannot access v3.2.2 board Error 403

A 403 error is saying that you do not have the correct permissions to access the page. Now let's get one thing straight - this does not happen on its own out of the blue, somebody somewhere has changed something and most likely that change has taken place on the server. On the basis that you probabl...

Re: Composer install and vendor folder

Can you not already do this? I installed a github dependency for an extension just like he needs using it and it worked great. Not, as far as I am aware, from within a phpBB extension. Yes you can do it outside of phpBB core but not all (in fact I would go so far as to say not many) users would be ...

would you recommend to use an "exec" from php
No - many hosts do not allow it and there are security issues with it.

As I said before your extension needs to be "self contained" - whether you need over 2k files I would not know, perhaps do some "pruning".

Re: Composer install and vendor folder

I have answered that in your other topic. An extension has to be "self contained" - that is all files that are required for the extension must be within the extension package (in a future version of phpBB you will be able to use composer to install dependencies). Obviously while an extension is at [...

Re: [ALPHA] [3.2] Live notification using Websockets

Could you precise which part would need more attention There are quite a lot You cannot use global $user; in an event - you need to inject $user (which you have done Opening { should be on a new line. If you are using vendor file then you need to load it via composer.json You should be using Twig s...

Re: [ALPHA] [3.2] Live notification using Websockets

Can I suggest that if you are considering at some point to submit this extension to the CDB that you familiarise yourself with phpBB's Coding Guidelines as currently there are quite a few areas where your extension is falling short.

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.7 Release

phpBB 3.2.x will not run on PHP 7.3 - you will either have to wait for phpBB 3.3 (unknown date at the moment) or downgrade your PHP version on your server.
