Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

1.To get the links to open up in a new window and If you set the target attribute of a link to "_blank", the link will open in a new window. ie. <a href="<?php echo $ll_siteurl . $phpbb_root_path . 'viewtopic.php?f='.$row['forum_id'].'&t='.$row['topic_id'].'&p='.$row['post_id'].'#p'.$row['post_id']...

Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

iturnl Thanks for the help. So the result is it lists the 10 last topics. Is there a way to change it to show the topic's subjects only, and to list them as links? thank you It would be better if you read a few of the references that I referred you too in an earlier post ;) it only take a little un...

Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

capptain I copied your code and tested it .. it worked fine, modified the query and loop slightly .. if this does not help then I am unsure what is going wrong on your end. I put the contents of this file in test.php and put it in the base directory of the website .. <?php //change to your site url...

Please help me fit this to my page.I dont understand anything of code "applying" :( I do not understand your question .. if you mean you are unsure how to structure the sql query then you want something like: $query = "SELECT * FROM `phpbb_posts` GROUP BY topic_id ORDER BY max(post_time) DESC LIMIT...

Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

But i encounter one problem: accents on letters. I now see this on my site: Le vent poursuit sa quête instead of this: Le vent poursuit sa quète I can only offer suggestions. Are you using generate_text_for_display? <?php $text = generate_text_for_display($row['post_text'], $row['bbcode_uid'], $ro...

Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

Hi, I've been trying this code out and it works great except that I would like to have it also display the user name of the people who make the posts. What code would I need to add to do this? Playing around with it I got the users id numbers to display but I couldn't figure out how to get the user...

Re: pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

A better version .. slightly better code to see what is going on hopefully .. there are two examples in this file of the code .. one in a php block and the other with a loop with normal html code in the middle .. I recommend you use that one for most part as the less php you use the better imo .. ke...

pulling info out of forum posts/topics for a static page

Hope that this is in the right place. I have seen several threads for people seeking how to display post contents outside the forum (ie. on static pages) .. here is what I did after several hours of research, trial and error .. hopefully it helps people out. Basically this is an example of a php pag...

Re: Custom BBCodes

I never received a response to a previous request and have tried unsuccessfully myself .. any suggestions as to how to disable the default codes .. as way of example I wish to disable the [img] tag permanently to encourage others to upload images rather than link to them.

Re: Custom BBCodes

Kennin .. no expert here, but I can help you a bit .. hopefully a working answer to your problem is at the end of this post .. I didn't have time to test it .. between here and there is a bit to make heads and tails of it .. you were on the right track, just missing a few bits. * A few problems I ca...

Re: Custom BBCodes

1. Just wondering how you would go about removing the default [img] tag. I would like to prevent people from using the [img] tag to link images on a specialized forum and have instead allowed them to upload images as attachments to insert them. The reason is to try to prevent (future) broken links a...
