Re: What causes 'database backups are not currently supported'?

MSSQL makes it a Microsoft database so you're apparently on a Windows server. Check out the host supplied control panel for anything resembling database management. Craig. Wish it was that easy. The host is an individual, not a company, and I'm trying to do this without his knowledge or help. Long ...

Re: What causes 'database backups are not currently supported'?

Arrgh. Yep - its MSSQL-ODBC. I'm not even sure what that is yet. Any suggestions on how to get to the tables? I think this goes beyond phpBB support, so I'll take whatever I can get.

If and when I go to a new server, I'll probably go with mySQL - it seems to make things a whole lot easier, no?

It never occurred to me that they weren't using mySQL. I'll check that tomorrow, thanks. I also thought about rephrasing my question: it isn't really 'why am I getting this error' but 'how best to port this data over to a new server'. Conversion - kept up to date continually for years. Was this an install through your host? Not sure what you're asking. Pretty sure it doe...

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

That was the one, thanks -- I seem to recall that there was more to it than that (hiding user profiles and groupcp), but that's all I was really after. I realize that it doesn't stop the spammers, but it gives me a good feeling to know that the memberlist will be hidden from the search engine crawle...

the hide memberlist mod

I wanted to get the mod for hiding the memberlist for guests, and your first post refers me here: Download: viewtopic.php?t=213812 (http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=213812) Unfortunately, I don't have authority to view that forum. I'm pretty sure I can find it by searching this site, b...
