Re: BBCode tags stored in phpbb_posts?

No. What DionDesigns is suggesting is that if you have have a BBCode: [color=#FF0000][before:[/color]3pkg1i5c] [i]text[/i] [color=#FF0000][/before:[/color]3pkg1i5c] You could change just the parts in red, so that you will end up with: [color=#FF0000][after:[/color]3pkg1i5c] [i]text[/i] [color=#FF00...

Re: BBCode tags stored in phpbb_posts?

If the BBcode you want to replace is of the form [oldtag][/oldtag] and not something like [oldtag=DATA][/oldtag] , then this should work: UPDATE phpbb_posts SET post_text = REPLACE(post_text, '[oldtag:', '[newtag:'); UPDATE phpbb_posts SET post_text = REPLACE(post_text, '[/oldtag:', '[/newtag:'); M...

Re: BBCode tags stored in phpbb_posts?

No that will not work. Per post a bbcode_uid is added to the BBCode, e.g. for bold it will look like [b:3pkg1i5c] [/b:3pkg1i5c] . The bbcode_uid is stored in the same record in the posts table. "Per post" seems to imply the uid is unique to each post, and therefore there's no way to do a global sea...

BBCode tags stored in phpbb_posts?

Quick question: are BBCode tags stored along with the rest of the post text in phpbb_posts, or are they handled in some special way? The reason I ask is that I need to do a global search and replace of an old BBCode tag with a new BBCode tag to take its place, and I need to know if something like th...

Re: How can I change the number of "post per page" in a topi

Is there a way to change the number of posts per page on a per thread or per forum basis, phpBB is a flat bulletin board so doesn't have threads only topics. To change it on a per topic basis would require a MOD. Have a look in the Modification database and if you can't find one that is suitable yo...

Re: How can I change the number of "post per page" in a topi

Sorry for recycling an old topic, but the above question is somewhat related to what I'm trying to do. Is there a way to change the number of posts per page on a per thread or per forum basis, rather than just a single global setting for all forums/topics? The reason I ask is that I have a couple of...

To the OP, I will simply say that any legal advice you obtain here will be worth exactly what you pay for it. If you have serious concerns along these lines, consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.

Please don't insult me and then attempt to cover it with cute smilies. It is quite condescending and rude.

Re: User requesting all posts to be removed !

Hi Meagan, What you are really talking about is copyright and the fact that contributors on your site, i.e. your posters, generally own and retain the copyright to any content they post. You can get a fact sheet specific to your country's rules relating to this here: http://www.copyright.org.au/g10...

Re: Question escape route for the developers always

You can see a similar situation in some cell phones, where the cell phone OEMs modify their phones to make the carriers happy, even to the detriment of phone users. Which is why the carriers (aka board admins) should not be the target demographic, the end user should. The ACP/MCP UI and certain ser...

Re: What do you want in phpBB4?

The hooks are being extended for 3.2. Once 3.2 goes into Beta stages will be the time to start suggesting new locations for hooks (with legitimate reasons for it) if there should be one in a certain place. Glad to hear it, but I would make one small further suggestion - "because we can do cool stuf...

Re: What do you want in phpBB4?

My $0.02 is that there's really only one must-have feature for phpBB 4, as was mentioned previously - a real, live plugin API system, with hooks into the forum functionality, similar to what Wordpress has done . I believe there are some moves in that direction already, but with that, no other core f...

Re: Copyright Protection of Images

A lot of work for very little gain. If the concern is so great, it would be simpler to just disable hotlinking/inline images altogether.

Re: Copyright Protection of Images

It's not possible, given the way the internet works, basically. When you hotlink to an image hosted on another server, what you're doing is telling browsers to go and fetch that image directly from that other server - it never passes through your server on the way to the client, so there's no way for...

Re: Copyright Protection of Images

How are you planning to modify an image when you don't control either the server or the client? The OP can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he's referring to images uploaded to a forum from a URL. Other wise no you can't do anything but try and hide them like already suggested. I'm pretty sure...
