Re: Firefox Quantum Addon for PhpBB codes?

Point taken. Thanks for the xpi for FF for bbCodeInsert, sent to me via email and added to FF without a problem. It works extremely well, and is shaping up as a worthy replacement for BBCodeXtra!

Re: Firefox Quantum Addon for PhpBB codes?

I have been using BBCodeExtra , and I have a few dozen custom tags, both BBCode and HTML, but it does not work with FF 57+ (Quantum), so I am looking for a replacement. Anyone using something for newer versions of Mozilla that they like? I wasn't quite sure where to have it. I could not find a repl...

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

I really don't have the time, Joshy, seriously. I have a ½ hour a day for computer stuff, that's it. I would if I could.

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

Why did you post here then if you already knew there was a consensus? I learned that there is some sort of (IMO cockeyed) consensus in this thread. Isn't that obvious? Why post a feature request that you had no intention to support? I've started 2 threads on this topic, collated bug reports ... isn...

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

Sorry but the consensus over time seems to be that the censor is just hunky dory and working as planned, so if that's true and the "400,000 members here or the tens of thousands of other phpBB users" (see above) are perfectly happy with it, I'll look after my own needs and leave it be. It takes me a...

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

If anyone else would like to make the Pull Request, please do so. I'm a hacker and don't mind modifying renderer.php in my installs.

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

Wow thanks Joshy! It looks almost too easy to modify /phpbb/textformatter/s9e/renderer.php $html = $this->renderer->render($xml); if (isset($this->censor) && $this->viewcensors) { $html = $this->censor->censorHtml($html, true); } So it's as simple as changing the line to $html = $this->censor->censo...

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

The bottom line here is that most people use the Word Censor as a way of modifying or restricting text in posts. It is an unexpected "feature" that it also interferes with URLs. For many, it's an unwanted feature. I have about 100 word censors set up, and most are for readability purposes, for insta...

On a word by word basis?
That would entail a new column in the database per word

I'd be happy with a single switch that could be set, applying to all words simultaneously.

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

Okay fine, here's another example. I have a word censor that converts lowercase "abc" to "ABC" (not the actual string, but you get the idea). It's a acronym. Now that actually does break links, I've spent a few hours today running jobs in phpmyadmin fixing it. It DOES happen. If the link contains fo...

Re: Upgrade Word Censor to exclude URLs

You mean when crap is censored on your board then I can circumvent it by just writing http://you.re/crap? Oh please, how many people would think of doing that? You're talking about a tiny, tiny minority. Whereas rephrasing URLs is rather easy: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/scr%61p is the same as h...

Re: Word Censor needs an overhaul

if you believe that this is incorrect behaviour then create a bug report. LOL, it's been reported over and over and over ..... https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-9809 (Rejected by A_Jelly_Doughnut in 2010 with "Definitely working as intended. Censoring words in URLs is a common request") I do ...

Firstly there are some users who actually want that to happen
Please explain. Why on earth would you want a word censor to alter html?
and secondly if you believe that this is incorrect behaviour then create a bug report.
