Re: Firefox's BBCodeXtra add-on discontinued. Replacement?

And that is better than an enhanced bbcode editor how?

Looks like while I am "whining" others want to boast

Re: Firefox's BBCodeXtra add-on discontinued. Replacement?

It's really sad that a little piece of code called BBCodeXtra, written part time by an Italian, is waaay more useful than the BBCode in the default phpbb editor.

Firefox's BBCodeXtra add-on discontinued. Replacement?

The new Firefox Quantum does not work with the excellent and indispensible BBCodeXtra addon . The developer is too busy to update it. Really, phpBB's built in BBcode editor is piss-poor compared to this add-on. Just one example: if you have a multi-line list of points you want to convert to a bullet...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.1 released

Yes, I could make a list of the changes and keep it in a separate document, and insert the edits with each and every update .... but wow, this is a retrograde step when the auto-updates were working so well. If the auto-update function is broken, the update should have been pulled and the auto-updat...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.1 released

And I find it a poor show that you've manually edited files for these changes when no edits are needed. Oh really? Please show me the extension that puts a slider into the header, or puts unique graphics on the registration page. They do not exist, ergo my own edits were required. Also suggesting a...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.1 released

Yep, but here we are with you complaining you're unable to update due to making likely totally avoidable edits to core files. ;) Also we've been saying to avoid editing them as much as possible for a few years now. Why have I never seen any official announcement that advises specifically not to mak...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.1 released

That you've done hours worth of edits to some of the files you've listed is just a recipe for disaster any way you look at it. Oh please. My site has run very successfully and profitably for over a decade. Some "disaster". And never once have I seen any advice here not to make edits to these files;...

Will directly move from 3.2.0 to 3.2.2, when it's released. :)
Looks like I'll have to do that too.

Why on Earth the auto-updater will work for 3.2.0 → 3.2.2 and not for 3.2.0 → 3.2.1 is something that has not been clearly explained.

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.1 released

You shouldn't need it as hard coded edits are not used so much these days. So you are saying I don't need the automatic updates and I can simply overwrite all the changed files I have on my server? You have got to be kidding! I have bespoke edits to overall_footer.html overall_header.html colours.c...

Yeah, how about someone with editing authority edits that bug to change the version, rather than me wasting my time re-creating it?

[Solved] Wrong return-path set by phpbb3.2

The bug described here still exists in 3.2.x, heaven knows why: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2101814 I fixed it in my installation by editing functions_messenger.php as advised here: http://websmartcentral.com/178/phpbb3-hack-to-get-correct-mail-headers/comment-page-1/#commen...

Re: Strange caching problem

The email HG sent me also urged me to use SiteLock. They seem to have a sweetheart deal with HG  My phpbb installations continue unaffected today Looks like my sites were affected with some sort of hack or virus that caused WP to issue an update. No idea if this was linked to the cache issue ....

Re: Strange caching problem

My site is working again, and small refund provided, but at the same time they deleted instances of functions.php and post.php from my wordpress installations and themes, crashing my sites. This is apparently because wordpress discovered a bug (I guess, because WP has just issued an emergency update...
