Re: [DEV] Round Avatars

Why not just use: border-radius: 50%; object-fit: cover; object-position: center center; that will work only if the image is square like i said in what you quoted No, it is also working when it's not a square. You can stretch the actual image and put another container around it which then sets the ...

So, the avatar is forced a round shape even if the avatar I upload "requires" a sqare shape by design? :D
yes. this makes all avatars round with just css regardless of the actual shape of the image. it does not alter the actual image in any way

;) https://css-tricks.com/the-shapes-of-css/ for next release.
this is going to stay simply round avatars. if people want different shaped avatars then that will require a different extension which would not be very hard to make as css has so many options now

Why not just use this border-radius: 100%; ?
because that doesn't work unless the image is square ;)

first post updated with a download link.

this works on all images i could find...

square
rectangle

animated
uploaded
remote

Re: [DEV] Round Avatars

just a note for anyone interested... this extension will be using the css property clip-path . i'm currently working on an issue with gravatar images not being rounded due to the .avatar class being removed by the core but all others work fine including animated avatars. also don't matter if the ima...

Re: Evil bot causes host to shutdown my site

i had an issue in December of last year from "The Knowledge AI" bot putting a massive load on my hosting. it was fixed simply by blocking the bot in the .htaccess file with this

Code: Select all

###block "The Knowledge AI" bot
SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent "The Knowledge AI" bad_bot
Deny from env=bad_bot

fa-tachometer works, fa-tachometer-alt isn't listed in the FA list
it does exist tachometer-alt

Re: Toggle Extension Credits

i personally think that styles and forum software should be the only thing that has credits added to the footer. if you have a large number of extensions installed(which many do) and they all add to the credit line, the footer can and will become very unsightly. that said, the core should have a way...

Re: Round avatars

i don't think it would be very hard to make an extension for this as there are a few different ways to make them round. but keeping the aspect ratio looking right when having square and rectangle images will be the only thing that will take a little time

Re: Toggle Extension Credits

i actually think that only the phpBB forum software itself and styles should have credits in the footer. reason is that many extension writers end up closing their sites leaving dead links in the footer. there's many other ways extension writers can add credits without cluttering up the footer. an e...
