Re: phpBB Homepage Updated

The updated homepage looks great! I have to say, kudos to the team member that actually listened to the community and took the critisism and made changes when you really didn't need to :)

Re: phpBB Homepage Updated

The updated version is much more aesthetically pleasing than the first updated version, kudos to whoever did it. However, I still have issues with it. I really don't see a point in the images at the top. Sure, they are nice works of art (kudos to Vlad) but what purpose do they serve since all of the...

Re: Discuss: Introducing JIRA – the new bug tracker

Personally, the interface is very off-putting. It's clunky and unorganized, and it seems too complicated for the common user who just wants to tell you about a bug he's found. He shouldn't have to go on a 20 minute interface-journey looking for where to they should file a bug report or looking to se...

Re: Creating a custom page with a difference

Re: Free PhpBB hosting with private top level domain support

Trust me, it's going to be much, much more of a headache for you to go with a free host and then move to a paid host. Just go with paid hosting, it's not at all expensive or difficult to set up. :)

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.0.5 released

I think the downloading page on ohloh is misleading. I clicked "download phpBB" from the phpBB.com downloads page. Come out on ohloh.com and see a big button "click here" so I click there and got on reghelper.com  Now that SourceForge has acquired Ohloh that page will probably be plastered wi...

Re: Copyright

Many hackers just google "Powered by phpBB" and hack boards that they find. Oh, well. Even if you alter (or some people just flat remove) the copyright for "Security Reasons" it is still easy to find phpBB boards, all you have to do is google for 'viewtopic.php' or any other unique file name that p...

The DBAL is the Database Abstraction Layer that phpBB3 uses, and Stef775 is saying you should use the template engine to output the data. These links may help :)

Re: Register Global(s) [Variables?]

Template variables is what they are called. ;) If you want to add them you use $template->assign_vars() or $template->assign_var() $template->assign_vars(array(     'MY_VAR'      => 'This is a template variable',     'YOUR_VAR'    => 'Another template variable', ));  Or if you want to be able to use...

There is either a space or a BOM character before the <?php in index.php. Make sure to save that file UTF-8 without a BOM :)

Re: Removing "Save" button

1. Click the permissions tab.
2. Click groups permissions.
3. Select the group you want to manage (probably registered users).
4. Click the "Advanced Permissions" to toggle the screen.
5. Check "No" for "Can save drafts"

Re: ACP - White pages

White pages is (from my experience) usually the result of an error in a language file. Have you installed any MOD's on your board and if so, which ones? :)
