I can't thank you enough for going to all this trouble. I think, since I've already done mine, I will stay with it. I could not figure anything out at first and felt so frustrated. I appreciate everybody's help. :mrgreen:

Re: Italics in forum and subject titles...

Well, ends up I was able to figure something out, I think. What I don't know is whether or not I've opened up some sort of security issue. Just in case the rare person out there exists who also needs to italicize scientific names in the subject, I will show what I did, but I am not responsible for a...

Re: Italics in forum and subject titles...

OOOOOH. I take it BAAAACK! Italics DOES work in the forum titles, just not the subject/topic titles. I'm very sorry for this oversight. Well, now. Overcoming my ridiculous ignorance has already solved half the problem. I was concerned about the possibility of some sort of security breach, but I only...

Re: Italics in forum and subject titles...

I was thinking HTML works in forum titles in phpBB2. Did you try <i> </i> ? No, HTML does not work. If I put in the topic field, for example, <I>Lycoris radiata</I>, the output is <I>Lycoris radiata</I>. Essentially, the program is taking the "<" and ">" and maybe "/" and converting them to the val...

Re: Italics in forum and subject titles...

Thanks very much for the replies, but I need italics to be a feature "within" the title, some words not italicized. An example topic/subject heading might look like this:

Cultivating Lycoris radiata, the Red Spider Lily

In forum titles I also need this capability...

Italics in forum and subject titles...

I may be missing this, but I cannot find any references for a mod or existing capability. My apologies in advance if this is somewhere obviously available. I need to be able to include italicized words in forum titles and subject titles, and I don't mean the whole title. The user needs to be able to...

Re: Discus 4 --> phpBB2 convertor

Thanks, I do appreciate your donation. ...That could relate to inconsistent Discus files... Markus You've probably hit the nail on the head. I started with Discus way back when it was freeware version 3, moved up in that to pro, then took the various upgrades to 4. Who knows? Anyway, I think most o...

Re: Discus 4 --> phpBB2 convertor

Donation sent! Thanks. If a fix gets made for the latest script, could you let me know? Does the migration only work for empty phpBBs? Because, if I could get a more thorough transfer, I'd be very happy. I noticed a number of posts didn't come over and that phpBB search doesn't find everything. Anyw...

Re:

Brilliant enough for me!!! :D I just wanted to let you know, your edit solved all my problems. Thanks so much! To anybody out there, I would not recommend using easymod to install the open/close/paste part of part 1. Do that part yourself, then cut that part out of the MOD-announces-part1.txt docume...

Re: Discus 4 --> phpBB2 convertor

Hey, Markus. I was eager to find a script that would transfer my Discus info to phpBB. I like Discus better, but my site provider instituted some new folder and file permission rules which permanently incapacitated Discus. Anyway, I had the exact same problem as hal65 when using your latest script. ...
