Re: Permission question

Did it - here's the reply: There are two permissions: "Can see forum" and "Can read forum". All readable forums show up in the jumpbox regardless of whether they can be seen on forumlist or not. This is not a bug, but by design so you can still easily navigate to forums you can read. Showing the for...

I just checked this on my own forum. The buried forums do indeed show up on the jumpbox. How bothersome. They are just hanging there without their categories. It seems like a bug to me.
Thanks for the confirmation. Will you hint this to the appropriate channels, or should I?

Re: Permission question

probably, you do not have your permissions set the way you think you do. use the permissions mask to see where the faulty permissions are set at. robert Well, I already know that the permissions for those forums are set to viewable. But they are in a category which is set to NEVER viewable, and acc...

Re: Permission question

Late UPDATE: I'm still having this issue, and the STK left/right fix didn't solve it.

Any other ideas?

Re: Odd permission problem

If it's duplicate permissions download and install the Support Toolkit , and run the remove duplicate permissions tool. Ok, but from the symptoms I've described, why should it be duplicate permissions? Duplicate permissions will affect the permission mask, but to my knowledge they won't prevent the...

Re: Odd permission problem

Thanks for the advice - I'm afraid it's not a breakthrough, though, because it only reveals what I already know: My registered users are having privileges they shouldn't be having, and I already know where it's coming from. I can see that, not only in the masks, but also on the screen where I should...

Odd permission problem

I'm having an odd permissions problem - when I set group permissions for the default "Registered users" group, phpBB just won't remember some of the permission settings. For some reason I fail to understand, these settings are always set to "yes" - when I set them to "no" and then reedit permissions...

Re: Permission question

Theoretically, you could have "visible" forums hidden under parent forums that you cannot see, then if your forum tree structure is messed up, those "hidden" forums might show in the jumpbox. But that actually means there's something messed up in my database, right? So if I have "visible" forums hi...

Permission question

My members have complained about forums showing up in the navigation dropdown, even though they are not visible on the forum index. I am fine with the forums not showing up on the index because the categories and parent forums they are in are disallowed (no viewing permissions). And I am aware that ...

Re: Change behavior of "unread forums"

Specifically on the index page, I would like to make forums only show up as "unread" if someone has posted an entirely new topic, but not when someone replied to an existing one. So if I visit a forum with 10 topics and read 9 of them, if nobody posted a new topic the next time that I visited, woul...

Re: Change behavior of "unread forums"

You may need to clarify your request a bit. Do you want the forum showing as "unread" if there are unread topics or new topics? Also do you want something similar for the topic list, only showing topics as "unread" if the topic hasn't been read yet (as opposed to there being new posts in the topic)...

Change behavior of "unread forums"

In phpBB's forum list, all forums are marked as "unread" (typically red) whenever there are new *posts*. I would like to change this behavior on my board, so that forums are only marked as unread when there are new *topics* (for my specific board, this would be simply more useful). I know this isn't...
