Re: Expections from phpBB 3.1?

I'm curious about phpBB 3.1, but not because of the MODs because I don't really have that many. My curiosity is with regards to more behind the scenes stuff such as database schemas, the numerous functions ranging from trigger_error through acl_get to sql_query and if there are any major changes to ...

Re: anyone have their phpbb site running from home?

For the first few months I ran my phpBB forum on my home server. ... The real decision to host it at home to start out was because I really wasn't sure if it would take off or not. Slowly but surely, it did, and then I transferred it to professional webhosting once traffic really picked up. Did you...

Re: anyone have their phpbb site running from home?

For the first few months I ran my phpBB forum on my home server; I've had a tiny publicly-accessible website hosted on my home server for several years now. I was fully aware of the potential issues, such as the limited outgoing speed, the monthly total upload/download cap of my ISP, and the possibi...

Re: What user groups do you have?

I have had one group since the beginning called "Quarantined users"; their permissions are the same except "Can post without approval" is set to Never. It was intended for users who were misbehaving enough to keep an eye on their posts, but not enough to deserve a ban. I've used ...

I've just received exactly the same spam from "radiopaniekzaaier" myself. Somehow that e-mail address had been spam free for many years.

Do you delete spam or keep it in a "Trash" forum?

Had my first spam post on my own forum today. Not too bothered, since it was obviously a human doing it. But what to do with spam once it's already posted? On some other forums I've seen a "Trash" or "Dustbin" forum where all spams are moved to and kept, though I'm not sure why. ...

Re: Automatically stripping EXIF from uploaded avatars

Well... phpbb is not an image editor... No. But stripping EXIF tags is not image editing. That's the about the only phrase I can cook up to your unhelpful reply. As far as some people are concerned, the message "The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 15 KiB" doesn't mean much to them...

Automatically stripping EXIF from uploaded avatars

Is there or will there be a MOD to strip out EXIF data from uploaded avatars? Just after I started my board I had a couple of complaints about avatars being rejected; this was a result of the filesizes being too big. I was a bit puzzled since the filesize limit is 15k, which I think is rather genero...

Re: Can't restrict moderators from moderating one forum

I solved it myself. I went to "Global permissions", "Groups permissions" and looked up the "Global moderators" usergroup. I disabled most things there and then got the behaviour I expected. Presumably that's was was meant by "forum independent user permission"...

Can't restrict moderators from moderating one forum

Hi all. My first post here, so forgive me if the subject doesn't make any sense. I'm testing out a new board with about five forums. One of them is called "Staffroom" and is intended for moderators only; I've been successful with regards to hiding it from Guests and Registered Users. Howev...
