There's a MOD for taking an RSS feed and entering it as topics on your forum:
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=130271

It claims that the skills needed to install it are intermediate-level - whether this is true or not I couldn't judge.

Though if you click the log me in automatically each time I visit option, you won't have to actively log in, which might be what you're thinking of in vBB (I don't know the software well enough to tell). For anyone unregistered, every post will be shown as not new.

See the reply I posted at the top of page 11 - those lines should actually read $avatar_sql = ''; if ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['avatardel']) && $mode == 'editprofile' ) { $avatar_sql = user_avatar_delete($userdata['user_avatar_type'], $userdata['user_avatar']); } else if ( ( !empty($user_avatar_upload...

There is nothing that I can see from your links that allows you to upgrade from 2.0.6 to 2.0.11 or 2.0.16 and get all the changes from the updates in between from them. It sounds to me like you skipped a lot of updates by running the single patch. The patch files would be huge if they had to accoun...

dellmelo and others: I don't think it's a problem with the mod, I think you've added the new line in the wrong place. What should happen is if ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['avatardel']) && $mode == 'editprofile' ) { $avatar_sql = user_avatar_delete($userdata['user_avatar_type'], $userdata['user_avatar'])...

That's not particularly surprising - after <!-- BEGIN post_item --> you're in the loop for each item - until then, {post_item.FORUM_NAME} contains no data. I had a quick look through the code, and couldn't see a trivial way of solving your problem, at least without introducing an ugly hack - why not...

Yes it is - if you append "?f=3" to the URL, you get an RSS feed from forum number 3, for example.

Locus, it sounds like the problem is with the new re-authentication step. Have you made any mods to includes/sessions.php or login.php? If not, I would try replacing these with fresh versions, as it sounds like they've got messed up somehow.

Not sure I really understand your question - you should presumably use the latest version of functions.php? Going to the admin CP means that you have to log in again, but if you go from there to the wrong place it suggests that you might have a problem with one of your other files (maybe login.php o...

phpbb_realpath is defined in functions.php, on about line 767. Open up functions.php and check that it contains the following: // // This function is for compatibility with PHP 4.x's realpath() // function. In later versions of PHP, it needs to be called // to do checks with some functions. Older ve...

Thanks for the chance to look around a VB control panel - interesting to see how the "other product on the market" does things. Does the VB "phrase manager" edit a lang file or are the phrases contained in the database? If the latter, does that add much to the database load? (Genuine question, but I...

iguanairs - most of the features you mention (a template editor particularly) would seem fairly peripheral to forum software, even though they might be quite an interesting project in their own right. But the downside would surely be a loss in flexibility - the philosophy of phpBB seems to be to kee...

It should be possible to get rid of most of the offending tags without too much trouble - essentially do a search-and-replace on every file ("<br />" --> "<br>", and I'm sure there's a unix command that'll do this recursively for your entire forum directory). <img /> might be more of a pain - would ...

As I recall those are both "stand alone" mods that just consist of new files, and don't require any changes to existing ones - so you should see something when you go to topics_anywhere.php and rss.php - if you don't, are you sure you've installed all of the files in the correct places?
