I don't know if files are affected, but you would first notice by getting messages from your antivirus (you do run antivirus, right?) while visiting your site. In the database, you would check the sitename in phpbb_config.

Re: Mass File Injection Attack?!?

In my research, I've found that a few things are happening: a) It appears that versions up to and including 2.0.22 are affected, but not 2.0.23. b) It appears that this is SQL injection. c) It appears that this is a new vulnerability. d) It appears that there are at least 3 different groups responsi...

Re: What about Ajax for phpbb4... AjaxBB?

It can reduce load for pages; web applications like phpBB are a totally different story. That's not what we are talking about though, is it? No, we are talking about AJAX itself, not its specific implementations. Note that not once did I state where or how it was to be implemented. Incidentally, I ...

Re: What about Ajax for phpbb4... AjaxBB?

AJAX can and does reduce server load. AJAX can enhance the user-friendliness and "fun" of an application. It can also do the exact opposite of not done well. But the one thing it certainly does not do is reducing the server load. AJAX functions lead to more request to the server, each request takes...

Re: Why does PHPBB3 make use of “FAKE” utf-8??

Oh, and did you just call the phpBB development team amateurs? :o Obviously you must be - or you'd be in gainful employment instead of messing around here... I seriously hope that was a joke, many of the phpBB developers are employed full time and work on phpBB in their spare time like some p...

Removing the copyright from the files is illegal. I'd suggest keeping the comments in there.

Re: What about Ajax for phpbb4... AjaxBB?

This would also create a tremendous amount of server load which, on a large board, is not a good thing. If every user had one page or more constantly checking to see if there was new data I'm sure this site would be brought to its knees very quickly, as would many others. As for logging in, I'd muc...

phpBB3 template files get passed to PHP, not the SSI parser. INCLUDE is a phpBB tag that has nothing to do with PHP.

hehe. I think you meant mass emails. Massive emails, are, well, really big. You aren't sending large attachments, are you? :P Sorry, couldn't resist.

Here's a decent read that echos some of what I and others have been saying: http://www.hyperborea.org/journal/archives/2008/04/21...

Re: websites that build for one browser

Of course IE6 is outdated. Just because people still use it, doesn't make it any less old. Windows 2000 is 9 years old (it was released 1999, IIRC). Just because people still use it, that doesn't mean it isn't old. I'm not saying people shouldn't make their websites work for as many browsers as pos...
