Re: Fee-based Registration

Thanks for the heads-up, I had not seen that in my searches! At least temporarily after my vote, it's in the lead. :)

Re: [Poll] Community Choice: Next Official Extension

While all four are desirable extensions, I think providing PayPal subscription support is the one that has the biggest financial impact on the developers/designers. It also is likely to be the most complex feature-set: donations at any time subscription membership to provide access to specific forum...

Re: Fee-based Registration

I'm surprised that phpBB 3.1x does not have this function (or an extension one can add) that provides a board administrator with the ability to have subscriptions to 'value-added areas' of a board. Since I posted this a few days back I have done a lot of searching online, and have indeed found large...

Fee-based Registration

I've been asked to set up a board for a professional guild. They have an annual membership fee and want to know if the board can control whether someone is an active member/therefore has access/expired-needs to re-up via PayPal.
I've never encountered a board that does this. Maybe?

Re: Posting a message causes Guest to appear as author

There is a character in the message that causes this problem. It is either a dash or a bullet point. Part of the message I copied from a post on the usada website - a news release - that had both of these characters. These characters are here - it will be interesting to see if it posts ok here<G> - ...

Re: Posting a message causes Guest to appear as author

Incidentally, if I try to view the message, in order to delete it, the place where it would normally display the text body, it says "the requested topic does not exist". I've also noticed that it puts the date/time of the post to Wed., Dec 31, 1969, at 6:00PM And when I am posting the message, I am ...

Posting a message causes Guest to appear as author

I am posting a message into a forum that has guests locked out - no one can see the forum unless they are registered and activated. I have been able to post messages just fine, but this is the first time I have included the "List" option in a message. When I post the message, I get an error message,...

Re: Unable to attach files to posts

Found it - I'm surprised the default was to NO but happy to make the change! thank you for the pointer - I'm going to go through every setup option one at a time, I think. Probably some stuff in there I really should be more familiar with, it's been YEARS since I last set up a phpBB board. The 3.x v...

Re: Unable to attach files to posts

I don't see an option for that - is it under some topic on the administration control panel on my board, or do I need to edit a .ini file somewheres?

Re: Unable to attach files to posts

I did, based on instructions from Hostmonster support. I set "upload_max_filesize", "post_max_size", "memory_limit", "max_input_time", & "max_execution_time" , which determines the size of a file that can be uploaded both directly & indirectly. The "upload_max_filesize", "post_max_size", & "memory_l...

Re: Unable to attach files to posts

Is there a default setting somewhere that prevents the attachment of a bmp or a jpg to a message?

Re: Unable to attach files to posts

newbie mistake on the code tags - sorry. When I reset the php.ini to say, 50M, and try to upload a 50 k jpg or bmp file, I get this: The image file you tried to attach is invalid. I've checked all the attachment options I can find. This is obviously separate from the php.ini file problem, right? I m...

Unable to attach files to posts

After searching the messages up here about "what to do", I have edited my php.ini file and placed it into my public_html/phpBB folder. I've set the limit to be 75MB, and indeed the error message I get when I post a message with an attachment is this: The attachment’s file size is too large, the maxi...

Re: Spam Protection

Does version 3.x still have need of your admin toolkit's functions or are they a part of the new version of phpBB?
