Re: Installing phpBB3 in a directory

Do I need to create a new database or can I use the one that I was using on phpBB2? And if I do, will I be able to transfer members and posts using the Convert process?

I am a bit confused with this, so any help would be great, thanks

Installing phpBB3 in a directory

This is surely a stupid question, but I just want to make sure I do the right thing when installing phpBB3. I currently run the latest version of phpBB2, which is installed in mydomain.com/forum. The instructions in "Conversion from phpBB 2.0.x to phpBB 3.0.x" says "Please do not over...

Re: Has my forum been hacked?

Most likely. Someone issued a PM to him - which generated a email to notify him. They then deleted the PM - before he opened it. It happens all the time on bigger forums. My issue was that the person allegedly received notice of a private message, although they were not actually a member of the sit...

Re: Has my forum been hacked?

Just what I thought. Very dodgy. I did reply to the email, but never got any reply. I deleted the user since anyway, but I hope this hasn't compromised my db in any way.

I sincerely hope the security of the new phpBB is much tighter than this as I find it really draining.

Re: Has my forum been hacked?

Thank you all for your replies. It puts my mind at rest a bit. I will just send a PM to this guy and explain this and see what he comes back with.

Once again, thank you very much for your help, it is very much appreciated.

Re: Has my forum been hacked?

My concern is that this person was not a member until today when he registered to post this on the forum, so he wouldn't have had a PM sent before that. It could be some spam email, but it also could be some hack.

Has my forum been hacked?

I have just seen a post on my forum saying the following: Subject: has this site been hacked? This is the second time I've gotten a message, supposedly from this site, stating "you have a private message". There is a link inside the email to go and check my messages. Of course I know bette...

Purge users with no post

I have searched for this but couldn't find any post relating to this. I have quite a big number of users who have no posts, and lately, some bots have created users with links to porn sites, which I am not happy with. I have just installed a MOD to get round this for new users, but is there a way to...

Oh... thank you. I was hoping there was a way to do it without installing anything. I have always been reluctant to install any mods as I am worried I could fuck up my forum... Thanks anyway.

List of email addresses from forum members

I hope this is the correct place where to post this...

I wish to gather the list of email addresses from one of my forums so these people can also be added to a wider mailing list. Is there any way to gather these emails all at once?

Thanks.

you should run
www.mywebsite.com/forum/install/upgrade_to_latest.php

btw, is this why the version number doesn't appear at the bottom of .13?

I am still looking for help with this. Please, I would greatly appreciate if someone could help with this as I really would like to keep the feature but it is currently defacing the front page of my website.

Thank you
