Re: Optimising Viewtopic.php MySQL Query for Big Threads

Thank you AmigoJack. As I'm reading it - and please correct me if I'm wrong - viewtopic.php is checking if post-approved is needed before adding it to the MySQL query, as I don't see it in the slow log. I use first post approval, but the new members group cannot access this particular forum, so it's...

Optimising Viewtopic.php MySQL Query for Big Threads

So I'm wondering is it is possible or necessary to optimise a query in the viewtopic file for very large threads. I have a board with multiple threads over 10,000 replies, and one with over 170,000 replies. This generates slow queries, such as below: # User@Host: xxxx @ localhost [] # Query_time: 38...

Re: MCP link for only *some* moderators?

For " [Forum Moderator permissions]" I've got everything set to "no" appart from "Can delete posts" and "Can edit posts".

Re: MCP link for only *some* moderators?

Why not just restrict their permissions as to what they can do and see in the MCP? Well, that's what I'm not sure of. I can't find a way to hide the moderator log and user notes - which include IP addresses. As far as I can tell they're shown automatically to anyone with moderator permissions. If t...

MCP link for only *some* moderators?

Is it possible to make a user moderator of a forum and *not* have them see the general MCP link on the index page with the moderator logs etc.?

Pie/Bar Chart for curstom profile fields?

Are there any mods to make a stats page displaying the results of custom profile fields? For example with a field that has a limited number of options like a drop-down box. The ability to display a chart showing how many members picked each option? A pie chart would be fabulous, a bar chart nice, bu...

Re: Topic order in viewforum_body.html (by first post date)

Thank you CyberAlien.

I have made a duplicate of viewforum.php and removed "last_post_" from it. Then made a new template where the viewforum URL points to the modified viewforum.php, so now any sub-forums of that forum can have their topics arranged this way without affecting the rest of the board.

Re: sort and display topics by time of first post and not reply

I've had an additional thought on this: Would it work to create an additional option in that code snippet like: 't2' => 't.topic_time', and then append "[something]2t" to the end of the forum URL to sort the topics by topic time instead of last post time? [Edit: Solved using a mix of the above posts...

Re: sort and display topics by time of first post and not reply

I've been searching for how to do this all day. $sort_by_sql = array('a' => 't.topic_first_poster_name', 't' => 't.topic_time', 'r' => 't.topic_replies', 's' => 't.topic_title', 'v' => 't.topic_views'); Thank you for that code snippet. To get that to work in only one forum style is it possible to ha...

Topic order in viewforum_body.html (by first post date)

Is it possible to change the topic order in viewforum_body.html?

I'm looking to display topics by date of the first post - i.e. I don't want them bumped by replies.

If not, is there something I can append to a forum URL to sort the topics by date of the first post?

Re: Including post text in viewforum_body.html

Thank you ElitZuR, but wow, that really is quite complicated by the looks of things. All I really want to do is include the text of the first post just like a post below the topic title. I assume from that then that it is not possible to do without moding the board? That mod involves changing loads ...

Including post text in viewforum_body.html

Is it possible to only use styles to include text from the first post in a topic below the topic title in viewforum_body.html?

Or, will I have to mod the board to do this?

Re: _posts' is marked as crashed and should be repaired [145]

Is it advisable to go ahead and do: REPAIR TABLE TABLENAME_posts USE_FRM; Is this my only remaining course of action? I'm somewhat put off by things that say this is "dangerous". Particularly since this is quite a large database. There are 1.6 million posts. [EDIT - NOTE TO PEOPLE FINDING THIS PAGE ...

Re: _posts' is marked as crashed and should be repaired [145]

Unfortunately when trying to repair the table with the queries suggested there it just says afterwards: SQL query: REPAIR TABLE TABLENAME_posts; DATABASE_NAME.TABLENAME_posts repair Error Table './DATABASE_NAME/TABLENAME_posts' is marked ... DATABASE_NAME.TABLENAME_posts repair Error Table 'TABLENAM...
