Re: Discuss: Blog "Moving on - the future of phpBB developme

In one line, my thoughts: This is insanely good for phpBB. Community interaction is exactly what makes Blender great. You've got a patch? Just submit it. Feature suggestion? Just ask about it on the forums. The antithesis of this is GIMP, and to a lesser extent, I'm afraid, phpBB. GIMP's community i...

There's a MOD in development for that here. It has its share of bugs and issues right now though, so be patient.

Re: [BETA] Facebook Connect 0.3.1

Hey, I've got a couple of style corrections to make: :) Open styles/prosilver/template/fbconnect_body.html Find <span class="corners-top"></span> Replace with <span class="corners-top"><span /></span> Open styles/prosilver/template/fbconnect_body.html Find <span class="corners-bottom"> </span> Repla...

^ The 404 errors, though. Those certainly weren't caused by custom profile fields if he changed the links in the template.

It's an interesting idea.

Re: Does the Internet need a minimum age

That is a fundamental problem of the internet. It is entertainment and people treat it as such. Common people do not take threats seriously. For example recent school attacks here in Finland were announced in the net prior, but no one gave a damn. Sure, the police did. He was arrested on the Monday ...

Re: I ever wonder, why to use a paid forum pack other than this?

I use phpBB because I don't understand why I'd use a paid forum "solution". I can look through the source code, learn from it, modify it, distribute it... If it doesn't fit your needs, change it so that it does. If you don't know PHP, and who doesn't these days, look for a mod. If there isn't a mod,...

[...] and that certain aspects of the content should be rate-able along a number of criteria (e.g. importance, agreement ). That raises a red flag right there. Agreement is a dangerous thing in a forum, again causing large amounts of tension and potentially creating huge flamewars, but only if it's...

Re: phpBB as a starting point for an open source democracy?

Wow indeed. That with the limited access administration control panel, I've had a similar idea in my head for a long time now. A large group of rule-abiding users could react to a rule-breaking post faster and with a wider perspective of judgment than a team of moderators could; But their power coul...

Re: Also MSN 9 - 2009 is behind us!

People say MSN sucks, but what's the point in using a feature-packed IMer that nobody else uses? It's the only program that I will use just for that reason. Otherwise I'd use Skype.
