Re: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6 and Above [*Read First Po

Yeah I am looking into that as well. Is there an option so the site will not even list newly registered users until x number of posts and a way to autoprune register but not active users after 3 days. Finally is there a way to double up on a CAPTCHA like like GD 3D Image + Question. Recently it look...

SQL command to fix BBCode.

make a long story short, converted a minibb board to phpbb2 and then updated it to phpbb3 everything worked great. then i found out that the minibb was using html code instead of bbcode, so i went though and updated all the html into bbcode however i forgot that phpbb3 requires all bbcode to have a ...

phpbb 3.2 and Soft Deleting.

As everyone should know now that deleting a message on the forums acts more as purge, meaning that is it unrecoverable after the action is committed. While this is good to keep your database small compact and clean, its horrific for management purposes, specifically when it comes to auditing. One of...

Re: Show PostID number when viewing posts.

Thanks, Thats exactly what I was looking for, Actually because I am a lazy bastard, Is there a way to get the post without the sid? Basically I want to be able to copy the address as follows <a href="http://www.someurl.com>name of the forum topic</a> That way people being lazy can just copy and past...

This is about as close as you are going to get unless someone else is willing to pick it up and update the conversion.

Show PostID number when viewing posts.

I want to add the Post ID number for the viewing of each post right under the edit/modify/quote/delete post options are. This way when managing the board, I can tell people to look for the PostID number in the thread or even better yet the ID number would be a link to copy so I can copy and past the...

Re: phpBB Future Security?

Well this is a vetting process in the realm of ideas. Just trying to think outside of the box. Just because the hacker can get to the data, doesn't mean that there can be additional roadblocks to them reading the data. The question is how much is reasonable? I mean that there could be something conv...

Re: phpBB Future Security?

mkruer For the forum software to be able to retrieve the email data - such as to send notification emails - it would need to be able to decrypt the data, if so it has to store that key somewhere, if it does it might just as well have the data in clear, as any hacker worth his salt will be able to a...

Re: phpBB Future Security?

I understand that it was not phpbb that was hacked; however that is not the point. The point that I was trying to make is that a database is only as secure as the weakest link, so we have to assume that someone will be able to read anything stored in the database verbatim. Using this logic, key data...

phpBB Future Security?

First of all, sorry to hear about the hack. I am late to the game as usual, but I have some questions about future development when it comes to security. I know a while back I brought up the idea of using hidden login/username, names that are unique but are not referenced anywhere outside of the ori...

Re: Unicode "unknown character" squares randomly appear

During the install there is a file called confusables.php located in phpbb3\install\data in it it replaced multibyte character with single byte charters I thought it was updated and might now have a bug in it, but they are identical. The problem i an having is identical to the one Nicholas the Itali...

Re: Unicode "unknown character" squares randomly appear

Something in the confusable is wrong..? Confusing indeed... Strike that. The files are identical. There was little DB changes, and we can rule that out anyway because the error appears in preview view mode (nothing is being written to the db in that case) So it comes down to the phpbb3 parser or ph...
